I have been using this cooler for greater than 1 week. I was disappointed by the out of the box performance. Cooling wasn't that great. In fact, using 4 books to prop up my laptop and using a real fan to blow air towards it cools down my laptop much better.

    Pros:
Very quiet when using the included 5v 2000mA AC/DC adaptor.
    Nice design.

    Cons:
Hefty. You will not be carrying this cooler around.
Using the included AC/DC adaptor means the fan is running at very low speeds.
Low cooling performance out of the box. Most likely due to low fan speed.

    Mods:
Bought a universal AC/DC adaptor on Ebay. Running at higher voltage, 9v or 12v will make the fans run faster. Caution: it's possible to fry the USB circuit board when using high voltage since the DC port and the USB circuit board are connected.

what laptop are u usin with the cryo LX?

which wire did u use to power the cryo LX out of the box? the AC/DC lookin one or the USB one?

i'm not sure about anyone else but i use a wall-powered USB hub to power my cryo LX. the provided USB connection spins the fans faster for me. another tip would be that u don't need to place yur laptop on the front rubber part. u can put it anywhere on the cooler, so move yur laptop around til u find the spot that is most efficient for yur laptop.

I love mine. Been using it for a week and mu CPU idle temps are 5C lower (~25C instead of ~30C), as are my GPU temps (44c instead of 48C).

Haven't taken the time to do recorded temps when gaming, but quick peeks in the middle of a game show a solid 10-15C drop for the GPU.

Just a warning to those thinking of running 12V: my cooler died today. The fans, all 3, won't spin anymore. I think the problem is with the integrated circuit. The Cryo LX utilize 2 ICs, one where you plug in the USB and another where the adjustable resister is.

So 12V at your own peril. I think 9V should last longer.

Should do, but remember you're still running almost double the rated voltage.

Now, rip out the fans, go get some decent ones, and wire them up to a switch and a plug-pack. :p
