    Hey guys,

I need a mouse for my laptop, i was looking at the Logitech v400, but i wanted to make sure that using a wireless mouse on an aircraft isnt going to cause any problems. Do most airlines care? Any specifics you know of for sure?
Aslo, having a usb wireless mouse as opposed to a wired one... is it going to drain my Notebooks batteries any quicker? What about bluetooth?

2nd. What do you all use for power on a plane? Dont most big airlines have power hookups of some sort? Im kinda on a budget here, and found this at bestbuy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat08005&id=1075583463294 , its not a universal power brick thing, but rather something just to plug what i already have into. What do you guys think? or are there better products out there? Will the 120 watt be safe for my dell E1505?

I think the bestbuy device only works out of the cig lighter in a car. Airlines use their own and I would recommend Juice by iGo.

Both devices would drain power through your laptop, be it wireless or USB. If you are concern about that use an old fashion rollerball mouse. Don't know about how fast they drain. I do not believe bluetooth would interfere with cockpit communications but I could be wrong.

Well according to the description the cyberpower slimline thing is suppost to work on planes too. as for the iGO goes ive been googling it and searching around, but i can seem to find just a "plug in" type unit rather than a universal power adapter, cause it seems to be a bit out of my price range. Also, the E1505 isnt listed on their compatibility chart, anyone know what has the same power plug as this model?

Anyone else know about using a wireless mouse on a plane?

    Thanks

Radios are not allowed and I am sure that Bluetooth and USB wireless mice are not allowed. I have NEVER seen anyone with a wireless mouse on any of the flights that I have taken. Other people's experience may vary. Why not take a poll?

Wireless Mouse was no problem for me.... it seems that the stewardess are clueless to what is going on at times.

you may want to check with the airline tho.

as for power supply, depending on airline, you normally don't have a 110v socket for economy and it is only when you go to business class.
same applies for cig lighter connection too. again, you can check with airline and also will vary depending on the type of plane you fly.

i hear that there is a wireless internet service now being offerend in the newer flights.

Yes you can get wireless internet service on some flights but its through there in flight phone system which is much different than cell phones and cannot harm the plane. Probbably very expensive also.

The truth is planes are super protected all the wiring and electronics are all shielded for RF signals and such so in theory there is no RF signals that can penetrate the shielding on the wiring and electronics. Really though the odds of a consumer based product being able to generate enough RF signal or any kind of a signal to penetrate a planes shielding is probably a near impossibility.

The problem is that new cell phones and consumer based electronics come out all the time with more power and different frequencies so just to be safe the FAA has a no use policy just in the unlikely case that a new consumer product will affect something on a plane.

Testing the electronics it just far to time consuming and expensive especially with so many products coming out all the time. Its just much easier for the FAA to toss out a blanket no use policy.

Yeah, once i thought i turned off my phone, but when we landed, i grabbed it to turn it back on and it was already on. I guess i didnt hold down the button long enough. We didnt crash :) lol

But, i have already checked the airline website and didnt see anyhitng, maybe ill give them a call to find out. I am in economy, but since its the huge international flight planes (747 or bigger) i would hope they would give popwer to everyone.

Anyone have any other solutions for an Auto/air adapter? Also, as ive been searching around, ive seen that some adapters for auto/say say they will not charge the batter and only provide power, and depending on how much power, i might have to keep the notebook in power saver mode or something like that?
So, anyone know what would be ideal for the E1505? in terms of wattage.

The dell site doesnt seem to be helpful until you have a service tag, and since i dont have my notebook yet (which is another story! http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=51054), i dont know what it is

    Thanks guys

get a long extension cable and plug your 110v into the bathroom shaver outlet :p

frankly speaking, when i recently received my lappy, i know for sure i WONT plug in that behemoth of a Adaptor into the plane... imagine your cabin darkens and engine humming noise goes down real low while you have the tune of WinXP poping up in your Lappy... not a pleasant thought...

now being serious... again, not many flights do offer outlets in every class.
otherwise, just unplug your battery and use off the adaptor in case that it does not recharge.

747 economy seats do not have power outlets. A power adapter for air travel has the standard In-Flight connector. The picture is the iGo Juice70 In-Flight connector which can also be attached to a car cigarette lighter connector.
