I need a NICE bag [preferably black leather] to carry my XPS 1730 to class every day.

Price: Not really sure what the range is but definitely would not spend hundreds of dollars
    Look: Professional Black Leather
Room: Big enough for XPS 1730 [very thick 17in], very large power brick, and a few college books
Weight: Don't really care as I know it needs to be large
Durability: Going to be using it almost every day so I need the highest build quality.

Basically, I'm going to be taking my 1730 to class every day for grad school. I'll already be getting out a 1730 which does not exactly scream professional. While the XPS backpack is roomy, it is far too large and says gamer, not business professional.

I can bend on the leather if the price is going to be too high.

Quick summary: I need a bag that can fit in the carry on for a flight and is 'business looking' while being durable enough for everyday use. Black leather with room for a large power brick and text books.

    Whatcha got?

As a fellow m1730 owner, you won't do much better than the official backpack from Dell. Although I am not a fan of the red interior, it looks good on the outside and has TONS of room to hold the computer and the massive albatross power brick (has a little carrying bag for it the velcros to the bottom. It will be able to hold your books and even stands up on it's own.

Just take recommendations with a grain of salt from non-owners. This isn't a standard 17 inch and as such, most recommendations are worthless if they don't own the computer themselves. I looked around for a while without any luck before finally settling on the Dell bag.

    I'm still shopping around for a case too - didn't get Dell's XPS because I don't want a backpack-style case.

I asked about this in the 1730 Owner's Lounge and someone said this worked fine for them:

I'm probably going to look around a bit more as I don't really care for the messenger bag style either :) .

I admire your courage for taking this to class every day! I'll let you know if I find a decent one that fits before you get one.
