    Hello all!

*Before you point me to the cooling stickies, I've read them once or twice over now, and I've seen a few DIY's on how to make a USB Fan*

I am trying to make a custom notebook cooler for as cheaply as possible out of any material. I have a few things right now:

    -a 12V 1.5A DC power supply
    -a 12V 0.66A DC fan (7.9W, about 5" diameter)
-a bunch of USB to mini-USB wires

Using a DC power supply, I found the fan spins pretty well at 5v and then really moves at 12v, so it's complete overkill but that's what makes it awesome.
It was originally used to cool a battery control module in a microturbine enclosure (interships rock!).

    So my questions are...
    1. Is the fan too powerful to be run via USB*?
    2. What are the chances I will blow out my motherboard if I am careful about going red>>red and black>>black (then ignoring green and white)?
    3. What material would you suggest I make it out of?

*I have a Sager NP2090 (Compal IFL90) which I think has two high power usb ports. Someone correct me on this but I thought I read 5v 1.0A max on them.

And if there's anything else I need to know, don't hesitate ;). I plan on taking pictures when I make it, so we'll see how that goes.

    Thanks!

Ahah, thanks Bog. Now I don't feel so stupid for thinking I could go above 500mA :)
