What are the best quality headphones that I can buy for under $120?

Preferably a headset, but does not need to be

I want them to be primarily for gaming, but not strictly gaming as I would like to enjoy high quality music with them.

Build quality is important, do not want them to break the first day I buy them, but with that said sound quality is more important

    5.1 surround sound

Also, do most laptops support 5.1 headsets? I'm looking at an asus or gateway fx gaming notebook.

    Thanks for the input!

I'd go with a set of used sennheiser HD580's. And 5.1 headphones are a marketing scam, your looking for something with a good soundstage and it will work better than the headphones that claim 5.1

I personally think the Steelseries 5hv2 usb headphones are the best I have used for games and music, they come with a sound card that really made everything sound amazing, they go twice as loud as my notebook speakers and I got them for 60 bucks on Ebay, you might want to check there.

Good website for headphone opinions but most people on those forums are obsessed! They spend so much money on headphones, like some headphones are in the laptop-price territory.

Anyways, I personally like the Sony XB700. I tested them out at the Sony Store and I think I'll pick them up in a few days. It's not meant for everyone, mostly for bassheads so it depends what kind of sound you want.

i'd settle with any sennheiser at reasonable price and avoid head-fi; they empty your wallet fast! :(

that being said i don't have experience with any of the logitech/razer "gaming" handset at all.
