I have a Levi's brand backpack that I bought from Office Depot around 8 months ago. It's falling apart. The zippers are breaking off the fabric, there's holes in it, and the left shoulder strap would be gone if I didn't sew it back on.

Now I need a GOOD backpack that will last me at least 2 years. My laptop is a 15" Asus N50, but it's BIG. It barely fits in my Levi's bag. I bought an Eastsport backpack from Wally world for 20 bucks, and my laptop won't even get in the built in compartment. This is why I want a 17" one.

Now $20 would be great, but $25 is acceptable.

If the dimensions of the laptop sleeve is on a 15" backpack, then post it.

I'd like it to be a fairly large bag. I'm going to be using it for school as well as my laptop, so it would need to fit a laptop, 2-3 textbooks, and a few binders.

    Hey there,

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find a 17" backpack for no more than $25.00. You can prob's find a *canvas* style like this.
But, really you would need a *sleeve* for proper protection.

Here is a canvas one - Still close to $30:
    http://www.amazon.com/Caselogic-SNB...8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1232246578&sr=1-8

Here is a page from ebags.com, priced low to high..starting at around $30:

    http://www.ebags.com/backpacks/lapt...age=24&N=20049179&Ne=100&order=DISPLAYPRICELH

Here is one from amazon.com for the Dell's but still should fit all other brands ;) $27.99
    http://www.amazon.com/Dell-C8882-In...ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1232246776&sr=8-3

Here is a page of 17" backpacks from amazon.com:
    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_g...alias=aps&field-keywords=laptop+backpacks+17"

See if any of those might work for you! Otherwise, in your Sunday newspaper check the ads for Office Depot, Staples, BB, CC, Office Max, Target, etc...for a backpack ~ you could very well find one at a local level for a good price! :D

    Cin ;) :)

Those canvas backpacks look like they're asking to break, so I don't want that.

The dell bag looks decent. The logo looks like it can be removed cleanly, so I'm not too worried about that. The thing that I am worried about is the price. Shipping causes the price to jump to nearly $40. Ouch.

How about 15.4" bags? If my laptop can fit in the built in laptop compartment, then I'll be happy (even a tight fit is fine). The only way that I can know if it fits or not is if I physically try it out, or if I know the dimensions of the laptop cover.

The review I read on it says that it's made by samsonite and rebranded to Dell, meaning that it should be of pretty good quality.

Now the battle of conincing my parents that $8 over the $20 backpack from walmart isn't as big of a deal as they think...

I have a $30 Targus backpack I got from Wal-Mart, and it has held up very well. It can holster a 17-inch notebook easily, and has a ton of pockets that will hold all of your peripherals easily.

I got the backpack today!! Let me tell you something. It's HUGE(height and width.) I see it as both a pro and a con. Pro because it holds more stuff, and as a con because it probably won't fit in my gym locker, unless I shove it in :p

My Asus N50 fits very well in the laptop sleeve in it. It's the perfect height and thickness, but there's about 2 inches on the left and right sides of it. Sneeze room I guess :p

It's pretty thin. My old backpack could stretch to be almost a foot thick. I'd say that this one will only stretch to about 8 inches.

The shoulder straps and back are well padded and comfortable.

The fabric feels and sounds like plastic. I guess that's from the rigidity of the fabric. It should go away with time.

I was planning on removing the dell logo on the front of the backpack to remove all traces that it's a dell bag. It looks like it's just glued on there, so I think it will be pretty easy to take it off. One downside though. Every zipper has a little dell logo on it

All in all, it's a pretty good bag. It's especially good for the money.

    9/10.

Glad it arrived! :D Nice small review you did of it.

It's understandable to have both good and not-so-good things to say about something you own. Hopefully soon, the good will outweigh the bad for you!

It's sure as hell better than a walmart brand bag. :p
