Did a search and havent seen anything recent on this. im going to be getting a new sager or asus laptop shortly (ive never seen any say they have built in mics) and im going to need a good quality mic for skyping.

I havent had much luck finding anything but maybe im looking in the wrong place. i found this: http://www.amazon.com/GE-98950-Deta...8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1213651848&sr=8-1 which has a detachable end for laptops and i know some headsets have detachable mics for laptops, but i dont want a headset.

if its a little dongle thing like in the link that would be great assuming the sound is good and there isnt background noise problems. or even if they sold the detachable mics from the headsets as standalone that would be good too since that would allow the mic to get a little closer to my mouth.

    Any recommendations?

The mic coming with the laptop is good enough, why would you like another one?

If it has an integrated webcam it'll come with a mic as well. If there's no webcam there might be a mic anyhow. Other than that I'd just go to your hardware shop and buy a cheapo mic. If it's for skype there's no point in getting a $100 studio quality mic.

If you mostly use Skype then any mic will work quite well, as skype has built in Noise canceling.
