Have an LG W2361v, it turns off when I receive a call or wave my hand. i think it's a built in feature but it's annoying as hell so I'm returning it. I bought it for $300. Anything better? primary uses are gaming.

My mother just bought herself the Asus VK246h 24" 1920 x 1080 LCD. It has a 2ms response time great for fast paced gaming. It also has a built in webcam. DVI VGA and HDMI inputs. It has a completely blur free very crisp picture. Nice Anti Glare screen reduced reflections to almost nothing. The price was only 180 on Amazon. From what I've seen it's an aamzing screen for 180.

I truly believe you will enjoy this monitor. I've watched a few movies on it and it's really a beautiful picture. Contrast Ratio 20000:1 / 1920 X 1080p / 2ms response time for blur free picture. 1.3MP built in tilt webcam. VGA,HDMI, or DVI connections has all 3 so you can basically connect to anything. We have it hooked up via DVI and it looks great.
The feature I love on this screen is a special feature you can turn on or off. I turn it on while I'm watching a movie. What it does is it auto dims the back light in dark scenes. What this does is give you nice dark inky blacks instead of light grays like most LCD's do in dark scenes. It also makes the shadow detail much more realistic. Then when it changes back to a regular or bright scene the back light instantly brightens again to give you bright whites and solid bright colors. This feature is annoying in games and web browsing so I turn it off then but during a movie it really enhances the picture to one of the best LCD pictures I've seen during a movie. The webcam is just a cool little bonus and saves space on your desk from having a separate webcam. -

Are you sure you want an IPS monitor? Their response time is a bit higher than most LCDs(usually around 12-15ms). Now personally I feel that's still more than adequate, but idk, maybe you'd require less. I'd take the tradeoff for an IPS though
If you're interested... there's a Viewsonic IPS monitor that retails for roughly 300$CAD with 1080p resolution. Think it's the ViewSonic VP2365wb. -

A compromise between the IPS and TN.

These C-PVA panels are cheaper versions of S-PVA, still way better than TN.Damn good price too.

. We've been buying them in the office for years. Even the first generation Ultrasharps that came in 4:3(have one at my desk for test machines
) are still better than quite a few modern day LCDs I've seen.
That being said, I'd be willing to guess that the color accuracy of the IPS panels wouldn't be a deal breaker for most people.
Johnny's solution is actually a very good screen too. My friend has one and it looks very nice indeed ^_^ -
In some cases you could consider a used LCD... also, you can also have a look at Dell's outlet....
