Ok so I ordered myself a Thinkpad T61. It has a 15.4" screen.

I need a backpack that I can use to carry the Thinkpad along with possibly a couple school books and spiral notebooks, pencils, erasers, calculator.. That's about it.

I walk probably at least 2 miles every day around campus so I want something comfortable. I walk a lot! My classes are spread all over the place and I'm very busy.

My priorities are: Protection of laptop, ability to carry some school books if necessary without harming the laptop, comfort, and durability. I don't care about looks but I would prefer something that isn't too flashy. I am not picky though about looks.

    What would you guys suggest?

If you live in Canada, have a look at Heys' ePac15 line of notebook backpacks. I myself have the ePac17 for my Sager and I really recommend it.
From what I was told (by U.S. members of these forums) you cannot buy the ePacs in the U.S.

Have a look at this topic for pictures and a discussion on how much my ePac17 can hold.

Agreed. I'm very happy with mine. I was very surprised when I discovered that you couldn't buy them in the U.S. though, it sucks cause there are a few members on these forums that were interested in the ePac and couldn't buy one.

    Hi Hellbore !

I have the T60p and I use the Sumdex Impulse it is really a very nice fitting backpack and extremely comfortable to use. Also, Sumdex is a company that specializes in computer bags and cases, so they have a great inner protection for notebooks.. really love it... ;)

Ah well. I can't really recommend anything else since I've only owned an ePac17.
Have a look at the Links to Bag Makers, Dealers and Reviews topic if you didn't already.

I use the black version of this. I don't like the other bags in this thread because they are too tacky or too feminine.

I like this because there are so many compartments and it's really MANLY :p to me. I also don't like the through the side insert because if you accidently don't close your laptop compartment, its gonna fall out. And BAM.

If you ask around the Dell forum, you can find alot of people selling the Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger bags they got with their laptops for ~$70-80 shipped.

Wow that Burton White pack is hot!

I have seen some really nice choices. For now I picked up one of the Init bags, it will get me by while I decide and when I buy another bag the Init will be my roughing it / backup bag. You can't have too many bags :D

I gotta show my sister that Burton White bag, she loves snowboarding and would love that... xmas present maybe? lol.

Yes I got the $15 one. It's just to get me by until I pick one I really like. The really nice ones are expensive so I want time to look at all my options.

    Big enough, comfortable and durable.
I use it for school, not sure how safe a laptop would be in it though
