I recently purchased a 17" Macbook Pro and I have nothing to store it in when I am bringing it from place to place. I'm looking at getting a backpack to store it in when I'm travelling. However I'm also going back to school in the fall so I need it to hold a couple spiral notebooks and maybe a textbook on the odd chance that I do not simply carry it in my arms like I'm used to.

I'll be leaving on a trip in approximately 13 days which leaves around 10 business days for delivery. I live in Canada and I'm not sure if that will pose a problem when shipping but I figured I should throw that in since shipping estimates are often from the warehouse to somewhere in the US and because I'm not in the US I'm unsure of the procedure for getting a package across to Canada.

I'm really unsure on what to look at for features in a backpack. I know I'll want some decent padding and shoulder straps but I don't know what else to look for. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I'd like to avoid any backpacks that look very square because those tend to scream "I have an expensive computer in here! rob me please!" so if anyone knows of some pretty regular looking backpacks then that would be great as well.

Ogio and Targus have some 17" laptop bags, but it is difficult to hide a laptop of that size.

My suggestion is to maybe look for messenger bags/attaches that can hold a 17" notebook; they tend to look less obvious.
