Im trying to hook the HTPC I built up to the TV in the living area, problem is that the mobo I have uses VGA, DVI & HDMI out.

I bought the cheap adapter cable hoping for the best and it did not work (figured it wouldnt) because the VGA does not support TV out. So I have to go the more expensive and cumbersome route. An actual converter box.

The TV has Component & Composite inputs but the component are taken by the DTV box so may as well stick with Composite unless it has both that a plus.

I want one thats cheap but effective.

I have one in mind so far.

    About $30 after S&H

So anybody have further recommendations? I really hate to spend money on something so pointless that I will never need again :(

Heck it may be just as cheap to buy a small TV out card for the HTPC.

So, you are using a standard def TV? Might be easier to add a card with s-video out. If your tv does not have s-video, there are plenty of cheap $3 converters you can get. I've used that in the past and the quality was pretty good for SD movies.

Yeah standard def TV, I looked the egg does not have any cheapo add on cards that will work well. Plus I do wish to keep the HD3200 if possible it has hardware decoding for MPEG2 streams and Blueray and stuff, has low power use, and its just perfect all around for what I need.

However if anybody knows some cheap low profile dedicated cards with svideo out that have the power of the HD3200 or better go ahead and link them. It has to be low profile and that significantly lowers the amount of options because it has a totally different fit for the pci slot cover that you screw down.
