Well i left my MX518 at school today so I'm assuming it's probably irretrievable. So i guess it's not a bad time to buy another mouse. I've had the MX518 for 3 years and it has been the best mouse I've tried so far. Should i just buy another MX518 or is there a better option? I play a variety of games from FPS to MMO. My must haves for a mouse is 1. the backwards/forward buttons and some decent weight. I loved the weight of the MX518. I tried my friends G300 and some Razer mouse and it felt waaay to light. But i don't like heavy mice like the performance mouse.

    Thanks.

Buy a Logitech G400. It is an MX518 with upgraded firmware and they don't produce the MX518 anymore.

I just recently bought the Logitech G700, because I wanted the wireless capability, with the ability to plug it in and charge it and also convert it to a wired mouse for gaming if I want to.

So it's the best of both worlds =).

Yeah, the G700 is great. I only bought the G9x because it was on sale for $45, and has a weight system.

The G700 looks very similar to the G300 that my friend has but more suited to right handers. I really disliked how light and the feel of the mouse. But the G9x looks promising. So it's either G9x or G400.

Well, if you want something with a bit of weight to it, the G9x comes with the mouse weight + up to 28g. Pretty heavy compared to other mice I'd used (your generic stuff, nothing nice like a MX518 though).

I have two G9x mice, since the first one's mesh cord became extremely tangled and I called Logitech about it to fix it. Instead, they just gave me a second G9x for free lol...

logitech g700 is been the best mouse so far, had it for 2 years and had not had a single issue with it. Plus the extra gaming buttons are a great add up to it!

Well i went with the G400 and it has been amazing. I just want to play more games because of the different texture it has opposed to the smooth styling of the MX518. Now I'm looking into gaming mouse pads to try them out. My generic Acer mousepad gets slightly annoying because of how small it is.

I've been looking into Razer and SteelSeries and I'm stuck on the Razer Vespula and the SteelSeries QcK. Money isn't a concern but i like the aesthetics of the Razer Vespula, The gel wrist rest and how it's double sided to better suit my preference. But it seems to be a hard mousepad and I've never tried one before. While the QcK i can get a much bigger size and it's the normal soft mouse pad style that i know and love. Any suggestions would be awesome, Main games i play currently is Guild Wars 2 and Modern Warfare 3.

I've yet to understand buying 'weighted' mice, IMO they should be as light as possible for freedom of movement. This makes a big difference in ultra fast games like Counter Strike. Steelseries makes the most well thought out and practical mice in my experience, I just picked up my second mouse from them. Best of luck with your Logitech, sounds like the right choice for you given you had a stellar experience with the first.

I just picked up a DeathAdder on sale for $45 at Best Buy. My first Razer mouse was a Diamondback 3G which was a great mouse, but the right button stopped working after about two years of use. I think it may have been from dropping it a few times though or maybe from the amount of WoW that I played at the time.

Ok currently splurged on the Razer Vespula. I thought i already have a soft mat might as well try out the hard mat and the wrist rest looks really awesome. I remember at a LAN party i was the only one with a good wrist after the night of gaming because i had the mousepad with the wrist rest. I'll post here to confirm my findings and hopefully i won't be returning it and buying just a normal SteelSeries QcK mousepad instead.

I actually prefer heavy mice, not sure why, but it feels better. Light ones are easier to move (maybe?) but seem to provide me with less control. I don't know how to explain it, but weight systems are nice - they do make a difference. When I say "heavy mice", I don't mean 10 pounds, ha ha...just heavier than the average Logitech mouse you find in Walmart for $25.

Balance is what I like in a mouse, a feel to it were it become one with my hand. I've tried the small/light ones, and for my hand size, it just doesn't feel right. Love the one I currently have in my sig.

Also I cannot be without a mouse gesture type app.
