I've been using Logitech VX Revolution for past couple of years. I'm very satisfied with it, however I'm fed up with its big, huge receiver. So, I was looking for a new notebook mouse with a small receiver, like Logitech VX Nano. However, that mouse was a bit expensive for me and it also uses batteries.

I'm basically looking for a mouse with small receiver and it would be a huge plus if it was rechargeable. I don't game much, so it doesn't have to be a gaming mouse, just a laser mouse will be fine. Also, I'll be fine with anything under $40 and any help would be appreciated, thank you!!

My vote goes to the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000. It's got bluetrack, good range, and a "nano" RF receiver. Also, it's usually under 40 bucks. Plus battery life is like 4-5 months with my heavy use on 1AA.

I recently picked up the Logitech M310 and I'm very pleased with it. Tracks very well and uses a nano receiver.

Most of Logitech's wireless products (not just mice, but also keyboards and headsets) now use a "universal" nano receiver. This is awesome primarily because it finally allowed me to get a decent full-sized mouse (the M510) that I can leave plugged in. Take a look at their products and see if you can find a rechargeable one.

When I was looking for a mouse to travel with I wanted a small one but not to small for my hand. Back/forward was a must for the Internet, as well as nano receiver and the fact I can use this one one a varity of surfaces was a big plus.

I'll +1 this, although maybe I use mine too much because the wheel started sticking and the only way to fix that was to take off the rubber part on the wheel (still works though).

Get the Razer Orochi... its a little more expensive, but to honest its worth it. Its bluetooth and wired so technically it doesnt even need a reciever...

And like I said for the price.... Just don't eat at subway for a week/ buy beer for a day and BOOM the extra cash is there

Razer products are beyond good. I just got my Naga last week.... Its amazing...

Logitech V450. Best mouse I've owned. Owned for 1.5 years and haven't changed batteries yet (use mouse daily).

Logitech M505 & V450 is same. Don't know about internal hardware differences.

I have to agree with you about battery life. I'm using M505 everyday nearly 14h and I'm still using my first battery set.

Heh, you're right. I have no idea why Logitech would do that. It seems the M505 is a newer version? How interesting...

If OP already settled with VX Revo then get Marathon /M705
It's the successor of VX Revo with nano receiver and 3 years battery life

I think the main difference between the two is that the M505 includes the Unifying receiver while the V450, despite having that same nano receiver, does not include this unifying technology... The Unifying receiver allows for future Logitech wireless peripherals [mouse and keyboards] to easily connect to a single "unifying" standard receiver.

I'm sorry, but Razer Orochi is over-hyped and over-fluffed. It is pure marketing fluff, aimed at the mass market consumer who is impressed by its image of a "gaming" company. It is no different than Bose, who tries to promote an image of a top-end audio company (which it is not). It is no different than Monster Cable, which tries to promote the idea that somehow their cables will magically make everything better.

The Razer Orochi is a "gaming" mouse that operates on either wireless or wired mode. In wireless mode, it is a Bluetooth mouse that runs at 2000dpi and 125Hz polling rate (8ms lag). For a "gaming" mouse, those specs are pretty weak. But the worst part of all is that it has a 3 second sleep lag. If you don't move your mouse for 3 seconds, the Orochi goes into sleep mode. When you move your mouse again, it takes a few moments for it to "jump" back awake.

Of course, Razer apologists will tell you "Well, when you're gaming, you use it in wired mode!" The Orochi is a 4000dpi mouse in wired mode, with no sleep lag.

All fine and good, but I have to ask myself "Why should I bother buying a mouse that is a great wired mouse, but a half-arsed wireless mouse? Why should I need to change my usage patterns because of the shortcomings of the mouse? Why don't I just buy a mouse that works at full performance in either wired or wireless mode?"

And that is just the limitation of the mouse - there are still problems with the buggy and crash-prone Razer software that comes with the mouse.

If you want an inexpensive wireless mouse with a slim receiver, get the Logitech Anywhere MX. If you want a wireless gaming mouse with a slim receiver, then get the Logitech G700. Skip Razer.

LOL that is so true. I cannot believe if there's someone recommending Orochi for wireless mouse.
*Ironically I used to recommending it LOLOL
That is so wrong, recommending handycap product to mass.

Why handycap? bcause there are other bluetooth mice that have better sleep timeout than that "cool" gaming mobile mouse LOL
