Hi all. Just created this account to ask about a few things I'm curious about.

    1) I need a recommendation on new laptop cooler. Currently, I'm opting for the NZXT Cryo LX. It works fine, but I wish there is something stronger out there. I have been hearing Cooler Master Storm SF 19 is the way to go, but I'm not too sure on how true that is.

My laptop is the G51JX-A1 Asus. There is no fan underneath the laptop whatsoever. Only a vent on the left side, where hot air is blown out. Which cooler will work best in this situation?

2)I have had this laptop for 2 years now. I have never thought about dusting out the inside of it. I have never opened it. Anyone know a tutorial of some sort to open this thing up...safely? How will I dust it out when I manage it open it up? A blower of some sort?

    Thank you all in advance!

Use a can of compressed air. Not a blower.

Also, the NZXT Cryo LX is a good choice.

Any recommendation on which can of compressed air to use? Btw, the NZXT Cryo LX I have is not exactly serving its job quite well.

Is it the best out there already or is there something else better out there? Btw, again, since my laptop has no fan underneath, will the NZXT Cryo do its job well?

Or does it make no difference.

Umm maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but your G51 does have a fan. It's inside the casing and the expelled air exits through the vents.

The cooler's job is to help push more air into the casing so that it can help cool down the components.

All compressed air cans are pretty much the same. Just open up the screws that hold the cover at the bottom of the laptop and blow some air into the fans to clear the dust build-up.

The reason you're not seeing great results from the cooler is because you haven't cleaned the laptop in 2 years and there's too much dust for it to do an effective job.

Yeah the top half is where you don't understand me. I was simply saying there is no vent of such underneath the G51. The only place where air is blowing out is on the left side, so I was wondering whether my NZXT was doing its job or not blowing the air into just the outside of the casing.

But yeah, I will try to open her up and use the air canister. Thanks!

After cleaning my NZXT and my laptop (surprisingly the laptop is not that dirty), I got roughly 5~7 C drop.

But, I still feel the NZXT is still a bit weak. Any recommendation for a better laptop cooler?

I also heard you can replace the stock fans of the NZXT to something stronger, but which to use?

I have a CF STORM cooler and it cools both of laptops very well.

One is an 15" asus bamboo laptop while the other is a 18.4" toshiba laptop.

I'm planning on getting another one :)

The two LARGE fans on the cooler is what makes it such a beast!

I was originally going to buy the nzxt until I saw it in person. Always wondered why they would put nice big 120mm fans and just couldn't keep the top fully perforated. Instead have partially perforated with slits causing hot-spots. Then again, design is important  nice cooler though; imho not worth the money. Plus there's no open back and like all coolers, the fans are close to the table; so it's choking for air. If you're a car guy ;) it's like having a gt35r with a tiny 2" downpipe and a puny 2" turbo-back exhaust. Even with a straight 2" catless; the turbo is choking! Getting the analogy? If not that's okay :)

I use a Cooler Master U2. It's fully perforated so no hot-spots and a fan in the back for good air supply to the fans. Picture explains it all.

    for a 15.6" widescreen U2 is perfect. Anything larger need a u3.

I'm not here to start a war, don't get me wrong nzxt users! :D just pointing out the obvious differences.

    edit*

    forgot about the second part.

I turn on my vacuum and use the hose to catch all the flying remnants when I use the duster can. For the fan, I unscrew the bottom cover then unscrew the fan and take it out; then using the vacuum suck up the dust ball on the fan (if there is anything)
