Please excuse my misspelling in the title.

Hey all, I am looking to buy a gaming controller. I play a lot of FPS and I will continue to use the mouse and keyboard for that.

What I would like to use this controller for most is racing games and action type games like Prince of Persia.

If anyone has input on a good controller please let me know.

For now, any price range is fine.

    Thanks in advance! :)

XBOX 360 has both wired and wireless controllers. I have been playing consoles for years now and the 360 controller is the best by far imo. It's very ergonomic, has multiple buttons and is ultra responsive. For the wireless you have to buy the wireless usb dongle in addition to the controller so that's a little more but the wired controllers work great. Also the wireless with the play and charge does not work even though its usb, it can only work on the 306. Hope this helps.

And by the way, that desktop in your avatar is awesome looking. I assume that is your custom built baby. =) One day I will be able to have something like that, one day.

Thanks I was kind of leaning towards that one, even though it is more expensive than some others. I like that the dongle supports up to four controller and a racing wheel from what I have read. I haven't played a 360, but it looks similar to the XBOX Controller S, which I liked a lot. Plus the controller is suppose to be compatible with all games with "games for windows" compatibility. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks for the input! :)

No problem. I had the Controller S on my orig xbox and the 360 controller is similar but so much better ergonomically. Try a Kiosk at a circuit city or best buy and you'll definitely feel the difference. You can also probably pick up a wired controller from a Gamestop or EB Games for pretty cheap and they have warranties, not sure how long though.

Yup it sure is! Glad you like it. When you build it, let me know, I'll be more than happy to help! ;)

Good call, I think I just may do that. Thanks for the advice!

I also love the XBOX360 controller, it feels so good. I would recommend the wired since I doubt you'll be drifting far from your pc.

Xbox 360 controller is the best hands down, get an offical one not a cheapo brand replica.

Then download and use the XBCD drivers to run it. They are 500x better than the stock microsoft ones. The drivers for the controller are just as important as the controller itself.

Those drviers allow you to map as many buttons as you want and make them do anything you want.

I have them working on Windows XP and Vista x64 Ultimate so no worries with compabitiblity.

Thanks for the software tip. It is all about having the best drivers, that is for sure!
