Did search the forum, but didn't find it.

I'm looking for headset. I need the mike to have good quality, to talk on skype. Preferably, USB, but I can live without it. I know there are tonn of them out there, but I'm looking for smth professional quality, not stuff for gamers or casual users.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Added: I wonder what those customer service guys use...

CS guys prolly have bad ones (budget reasons :p). i'd recommend the eDimensional AudioFX2. good build quality and the sounds are good too. plus, the price is pretty reasonable.

USB ones still kinda suck. I had a lot of problems using them on one of my computers and no problems on another.

I have a Plantronics analog one that I used at PAX last year and ended up buying when I got home. I forget the model number and I'm at work now...but it's big and square and chunky but it works GREAT. It was decently cheap as well.

Use a Logitech Clearchat headset - you can get it as a USB or wireless (USB dongle) option.

What's nice about it is that it has a 3 way selector switch for gaming, music, and VOIP, which changes the Mix depending on what the switch is set to, so you get the best sound for what you're doing. I use if for gaming, zoning to MP3's, Skype, and Webex.

BTW, Cisco Webex is what most of us "Support Guys" use for Remote System Support. I'm sure larger companies use a much more expensive headset, but I find this one works pretty well for me for everything I do. While I normally use if for PS3 online gaming, I have used it for PC gaming as well - works just as good.

The ones I'm referring to are the Logitech ClearChat Premium PC Headset and the

    Logitech ClearChat Wireless PC Headset.

You can get them online, but Best Buy usually has them too.

I second this Plantroincs has been making headsets since the beginning of time its what they do best, there mics are always the best quality and there prices are very fair. They tend to sell older models and things direct from there site for insane discounts.

DSP500 for like $8 when it was $80 as an example and I used to use those for my audio recordings, worked like a champ and was usb.

Correct, but that doesnt make any any worse, just means they have a new product to replace it (the audio series)

Those things sounded great, almost scary how much bass they could produce if you turned it on. Also since it was usb it used its own sound card so you could say play a game and have its audio going to your laptop or stereo speakers and have a voice application like teamspeak or ventrillo going and have it going to the headset (wich is what I did because I cant hear people speak well when its mixed with game sounds)

    Absolutely.
Those headsets on plantronics must be very good. But pricy. Even though they are like 2 times cheaper on amazon it's still 40$ more expensive then Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset.

here is the new model to replace the dsp 500's - http://www.plantronics.com/north_am...uter-clearance/audio510usb-clearance-60699-04

You get what you pay for here, if your going to use them casually for short periods of time Id go with the logitechs and see if they work well.

If your doing this professionaly or for long periods of time I would invest in the plantronics for the quality & comfort.

Though they are also an old model, it should be selling for under $40 if you find somebody that has it in stock, that $69 is the full price.

If you want the absolute best, get the Sony MDR-V6 (make SURE it is made in Japan as some were from the Phillipines). Then get yourself a seperate microphone like a Shure with a mount. That will be infinitely better than an all in one. GOOD LUCk!

I got a Logitech one for my grandfather once - and it works very well on skype.

In the 30 Pounds range.. USB...

Surely no professional product - but it works well.
You could also use headphones with a dedicated microphone - personally I just use my laptop's mic.

If you need to wear it for long periods of time then visit a shop and try if it fits comfortably.
