Hey guys which mouse do you think I should get. My favorite game is css, but I also play crysis, bf2142, and cod4. The 3 mice I narrowed it down to are: Logitech MX518, Logitech G5, or Logitech G7. The Logitech MX518 is the only optical mouse (I heard optical is better for gaming)... When you pick up the lasor mice to move them back to the center of the mouse pad does the laser still read the mouse pad in the air and move the mouse cursor move when the mouse is in the air? (that wouldnt be good for gaming) Also is the wireless G7 worth the extra money.... So far im leaning to getting the Logitech MX518... but I wanna hear what you guys think.

    Thanks :)

If I could only choose among those three, then the G5 would be my selection. I've been using laser mice for years, and I've found them to have generally better fast-movement tracking than their optical counterparts.

If you want another recommendation, check out the Ikari Steel Series Laser. My brother, a former G5-user, alerted me to the Ikari and convinced me to try it out. I was sold within minutes of using it first-hand, and I own many other current high-end mice (Razers, Logitecs, Saitek, Ideazon, etc).

I've got the Mx518 at home and it a great bang for the bucks and work VERY well and is very comfortable. It's a 1600 dpi optical mouse so it's more precise and customizable as many other mices.

Frank im actually leaning towards the Mx518. Its the cheapest for only $40 and it the only optical one.

Whats the difference between theese 2 other tha the color???

Those mice look the same to me besides color.

My pick would be the G5, but only because MX518 doesn't have side scroll mouse wheel. If that's not a big deal to you then MX518 be great for you.

@ OP, of the 3 you have listed, I'd go with the mx518. It's optical, and cheaper than the other 2. Plus the G7 is wireless which NOT good for gaming.

I owned a mx518 for a while and for the price it was a really nice package. It actually still works and my roommate still uses it.... I got a razer under 30 so I couldn't pass it up.

Logitech G5 hands down. it can't be beat. rock-solid, good feel, adjustable weight, ergonomic, 2000dpi is all you'll ever need, great software, 2 thumb buttons.... i love mine.

I used to be all into buying the best new (logitech) mouse everytime a new one popped up when I played CS competitively. I have the MX51* (whichever was before the MX518.. 510?) I had the MX500 and now I'm pretty sure I have the MX510. It still works great and I'd recommend that if it was still around, but the MX518 took over. And since the MX518 is basically the same mouse, I recommend that one. It even comes with weights :D

And Razer mice are just too weird... Logitech forever!

Also, I've heard that the Logitech G9 is a good gaming mouse.

I have also been looking for a good mouse for several months.

My requirements were that it should be good for gaming and that it had to have a cable - because if I travel I do not have time to charge the battery all the time. Anyways w/ cable is better for gaming.

Eventually I opted for the MX518.
I also considered the G5, however after reading several reports that the plastic came off really quick I bought the MX518.

If you had to go with one of those three, I would choose the MX518. I prefer the optical to laser, and the sidescroll on G5 I found was annoying for gaming. I tried the G5 out for a while and returned it, opting for a Deathadder instead. Still using a MX518 at work though for running ANSYS and other simulation programs.

However, if I was you I would pop into Best Buy and try holding the Razer Deathadder and Lachesis. I couldn't believe how comfortable the DA was so I'm really glad I bought it.
