I'm look for a 1TB minimum space with esata and usb 2.0.
My mom has credit card points that she has to use. She can get $200 from Bestbuy and $250 for Staples and J&R.

There are too many to choose from. Can someone help me find one that has good reviews and will have the features stated above while not over the money limit set above.

    Thanks for the help.

SimpleTech PRO1000Q ProDrive 1.0TB Quad Interface External Hard Drive

    This one got good reviews:

I would buy something from JR because there's a 5% cashback when you go through live.com

What you're looking for is a faster RPM (7200, no less), bigger cache or buffer size (32mb), one that supports windows (and/or mac if you're a mac user), has good support (see the manufacturer's site), has eSata, USB 2.0, and Firewire 400/800, has the highest transfer rate and least seek time, what features are unique, and lastly the manufacturer's warranty because hard drives will fail on you at some point. Oh yeah and find out if it comes with an eSata cable or not because not all of them do. I haven't had the time to research into the ext hard drives from JR. but Cin's list should be fine as that was what I've narrowed it down to.

Speed does not matter because I"m sure if it has esata then it has at least 60MBps and that's all I need. Need both mac and windows support also.

Would you think it would be cheaper to buy the hard drive then put it into an external case?
Would not matter where I bought the case from.

If you can get that added 5% cash back extra savings from live.com thru JR that brncao pointed out..I would prolly venture that way also! ;)
