In searching for the perfect Christmas gift for my husband I came across this forum and thought I'd see if anyone can help me out. I would like to buy my husband a backpack for his laptop and a wireless mouse. I'm looking for a backpack that he can take to work, that would look okay in a business environment (not suit and tie type business but probably primarily black or grey would be best), good quality, not too big (fit his laptop, a couple of files, maybe a book, and some accessories), and maybe with a little style (not look like a suitcase). He also mentioned he'd like a water-bottle holder and a place to put passport/tickets but those aren't major requirements and I could do without them if I liked everything else. Any suggestions?

I'm also looking for a wireless mouse for his laptop. Here I really have no idea what I'm looking for. He does have bluetooth on his computer so I know that is an option but it doesn't have to be bluetooth. He has fairly large hands so that may be a consideration but I do know that he wants a small mouse not a full-sized desktop style mouse. Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

I'd like to stay around the $150 range (or less) for both but if I found two things I couldn't live without I could probably bump it up to $200.

    Thanks!

I bought my backpack over at eBags. They have a large selection. We just reviewed some bags and mice for the site. You might want to look in the reviews section. I have Kensington Mini Bluetooth mouse which I like quite a bit.

Let me reccommend the very best laptop bag I've ever owned. It's this Tumi bag. I own it. I love it. It looks fantastic, is versatile, strong as nails, and will last a very long time. The two clasps that secure the case are just great for getting through airport security with minimal effort.

It's a little over your budget, but if you really want to give a great gift, cut something out and stretch to get this laptop case. Go look at it in a store, Tumi is available in lots of luggage places, some of which may be running sales.

Good timing -- Slate has an article on this very subject. PS I totally agree with the writer. Forget a traditional "backpack" -- that's for high school and college interns. Definitely go for an over-the-shoulder type bag.

Thanks for the replies. I took a look over at ebags and the number of choices is overwhelming!

Formfactor~Thanks for the recommended bag and link to the article. I also like the over the shoulder bags better but he already has one and would really like a backpack. So, I guess I'll keep looking.

    Thanks!

Here are a couple backpacks I'm thinking of....does anyone have any opinions on these?

i would suggest going to ebags and looking those bags up (they should have them) and they are all fairly popular brands so there should be plenty of reviews on the site

Dont think u need to buy a $100++ backpack for your laptop. I used my old-day school backpack & it still work perfectly for me. Only cost me $30+ :p
