I wish I knew of one that would be in the price range your looking for, but the Alienware Orion m17x backpack might be the way to go. It can be had for around 70usd on some sites.

I second the Alienware Orion backpack. I use it to carry my Asus G73 which i believe is larger than the M17x. Another good backpack is the Astro Scout. It doesn't carry as much as the Orion but its more smaller and slim. Though they are both out of your price range.

Another member is also searching for a good backpack near the same price range. He is currently looking at this backpack:

SwissGear Travel Gear ScanSmart Backpack - eBags.com

Swissgear makes excellent bags. If i could find one that fits my Asus G73 i might of went with them.

The Targus XL is also a bag at around that price range.

Yeah it's a hit and miss. Sometimes you will get the bag and it would be perfect. Unfortunately i wasn't so lucky. After a month of use the seams were coming off and there were rips and tears all around the straps. Dell replaced the bag and only asked to send some photos, they didn't even require me to send the old back. So now my second Orion is holding up better though it is starting to rip but I've had it for 6 months now and it's lasting better. If it rips to the point that its concerning I'll ask if i can replace again like my first one.

But the universal build issue is the alienhead on the backpack. It gets scratched easily, similar to the back of iPod Touches.

The Astro Scout i would say has superior build quality. It just feels much more rigid. I sadly had to send my Astro Scout away because it just barely fit my G73 and i actually had to put effort to squeeze the laptop inside the laptop compartment and taking it out was much harder though i hear from many users on this forum that it fits the M17x better.
