I am looking into buying a usb tv tuner for my laptop to watch cable in my dorm room.
Mostly i am going to want to use coax cable to watch the calbe offered in my room.
My question is how do they work?
Say i want to buy a 22 inch wide screen to go with it at 1680x1050 resolution. Is there any tuner that can watch TV full screen using this monitor.
Any recommondations on what to get? I am looking at spending at max around $100.

I bought a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 850 USB tuner to work with my 14" notebook at Fry's for $65. I don't have cable tv right now, so I tried it with the included mini antenna. It's pretty easy to set up in conjunction with Windows Media Center. Picture quality is mediocre for me, since that depends on local antenna signal.

What resolution is you laptop, and how well does it fit on the screen. Can you get a full screen? I also have and MSI-16332 with XP (TL-56, 2gig memory, go7600).
