I really need to start backing up important files on my desktop.I and my family are not what I would call computer savvy. What would you guys recommend for a good reliable backup drive for a desk top? We are running windows xp and would need a usp backup device also around 500 gb of storage. Thanks for your help.

I would highly recommend a Seagate FreeAgent external hard drive.

i wouldn't buy any on the go hdd's. i suggest an external enclosure and a hdd. beats those passports w only 1 year warranty on the WHOLE thing. makes me laugh when people get these and they die after a year of use.

backing up information is always important

I have a WD My Book, and the read/write speeds are super fast, it was inexpensive, and I am ablle to back up everything I have on my computer in a matter of minutes.
