Are these worth it? Worried it will end up scratching more than anything. Using it to protect it in my book bag.

Sorry to sound like an advertisement, but you should check out the Waterfield SFBags sleeve cases. I've purchased three from them so far, and I'm gonna keep buying them. They don't add much to the weight of the notebook, but they have decent padding for sure!

Here's a review of one that ejl from NBR wrote some time ago...

What size laptop do you have?

They are MORE than worth it. Read the review and you'll get a good example why. My old 15.4" nc8430 got damaged two or three times while in the backpack, then I bought the case. Never got damaged again because of it being in the backpack.

I personally use Incase. Works great for me! A good fit, and it seems to cushion my Macbook quite well. :)

lol maybe i should've explained a bit more. you see, booq vyper cases tend to be very stiff and in case you haven't noticed, you have to unzip all the way down on both ends for you to fit your laptop in. this to me is an hassle when most other sleeves allows you to slip it right in with ease. sorry if inconvenience is your cup of tea or if logic isn't your best friend.

I use a CaseLogic neoprene sleeve when I want to bring my lappy in my carryon or in my camping backpack. Works well, no zippers, but fairly thin padding. The rest of the time I use the backpack my G1 came with which has been great.

If you live near a Best Buy, you can check out the ones they have.

thankyou valentjn they provide much more protection over a soft case they actually have a rigid structure instead of fitting like a sock. and it only take 2 seconds to unzip the whole way? i thought that was easy

There are some great suggestions here. There's one thing that I would like to ask though. I've been considering the Belkin Neoprene Sleeves, but was really looking for something that was similar to that but had a smaller pocket for CDs and other smaller profile things?

    >edit>

I see the SFBags sleeve has a "piggy back" thing. This is sort of what I'm looking for, but more for paper/CDs, etc.

I'm sure several other companies make something similar, but the Timbuk2 Wiki is basically a sleeve with a handle with a single pocket on the outside. I used to use something very very similar from Timbuk2 instead of a sleeve and slipped it in another bag. Gave me the option of using it stand alone and just toting the sleeve instead of my big 8lb Tumi bag.

I find neoprene sleeves don't provide enough protection, especially when you're putting in a back pack with text books and so on. I use a ZeroShock notebook sleeve and just love it. It has protected my notebook from being crushed by my text books...a problem I had with my previous notebook when I used a neoprene sleeve.

Heres a link to there website: Shinza Notebook Sleeves

I have Zeroshock III model, it has a small front pocket for paper notes, but nothing more. They also have some slim case bags that will allow you to carry some other accessories.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think this is exactly what I'm looking for.
