I'm looking for a new gaming mouse and headset for my new computer. I've been looking at the G7 and G9. The only problem about this is that I want something portable that is easy for regular college use with my laptop, but I can then game on later. It seems like the G9 would be problematic with the cord.

For the headset I've been looking at the Steel Series 5H v2 and the Razer Carcharias. I'm looking for something with a good retractable mic for when I'm not using it.

The games I play are things like HL2, TF2, Counter-Strike, WoW, Dawn of War 2, Starcraft, and some other FPS/RPG/RTS's.

    Any other recommendations are welcome.

I use the Plantronics GameCom 377 headset

The mic almost disappears into it,
Sound is good, but they are all bit tight when you first get them, but ease up after a couple weeks.

I actually have tried those. My brother has them and I have used them for extended periods of time while gaming, they cause me too much pain.

I don't know why they made them so tight, guess they have small heads lol, after break-in they aren't so bad though.

    Any budget you're looking at?

I have abeat-up supraaural Logitech wrapped around my head right now. I get enough sound out of them to be a competent player, and they cost maybe twenty bucks.

I have the Plantronics 377, and I never thought it was tight, even the day I got it.

As for wireless gaming mice, you can get the Logitech G7, or the Razer Mamba or the upcoming Orochi, which connects via Bluetooth. Although to be honest, wires do not make a mouse non-portable. You can easily wrap wires around a mouse.

Agreed, I just stick my DeathAdder in my bag when going to and from work. It's portable enough for me :)

Actually the sensor in DA would be considered better than the one in mamba... Mamba is unusable with non hard surfaces, you need to keep that in mind :p .
