Hello, I need to purchase a new laptop battery for my Acer-Aspire 7720-6794. I have found them from $149 (BatteriesPlus) to $44.00-(E-bay) How can I be certain that I am getting a quality Li-ion battery? Thank You

I agree with David, the only way you're going to be certain of getting a quality battery, is to get it directly from the manufacturer or their retail sources. Unfortunately, those products usually costs the most. The best prices are with discount sources like EBay -- where you can get products that are allegedly new --- but when you're buying from a private seller, who knows for sure?

Here's a good compromise though. . . some discount sellers offer certain limited MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTIES or other guarantees with some of the technology products they offer. See if you can find something like that. That will somewhat solve your problem.

cheap is not necessarily worse. if the ebay seller has good ratings just go for it and buy 3 batteries for the price of one.

Ebay ratings from battery sellers are somewhat meaningless in my opinion. 1. buyers usually leave feedback/comments immediately after they receive the battery. This means the seller can't provide any info regarding the battery's reliability. 2. You can't leave feedback after a month or so after the end of the auction. Therefore sellers are not able to comment on battery wear issues.

If the ebay seller has spotless feedback and has sold a lot of similar items, guarantees it as new, and has a warranty (batteries should have ones for 1-3yrs), than ebay will be pretty safe.

Just double check the specs and make sure it is compatible and what the capacity is.
