Well, my new laptop (sig) is coming...
Should i get a cooler? (if i do its going to be an aeolus).. i guess, i mean do i really need one? like, other than running cooler and prolonged life of the laptop (frankly, i dont think i'll own this for longer than 3 years any way)... what does it help me?
    Thanks!

Could also act as a USB hub if it has more than 2 ports :D
Anyways, it's really up to you. I just got my Zalman NC2000 and so far I've seen my average temps have dropped down a bit. Just haven't bothered benchmarking the temps yet. All that remains now is to reapply some thermal paste to my GPU and CPU and hopefully I'll get lower temps (which I really need to ensure my 8600M GT doesn't fail me anytime soon)

Wait until you get it first! Download and install HWMonitor (CPUID.com) and then use it to monitor your system temperature points and see how well it does in a variety of situations - heavy graphics load, movies, heavy CPU/RAM usage, etc.

You can also do a Google check on your system model to get an idea of how users of your system think of how it operates thermally, hot or cool, and then make a pre-delivery decision on that. Personally I don't like to buy things unless I'm sure I need it, and in your case all you can do either way is make an educated guess. Even if someone else with the exact same system has problems, there's no guarantee it'll be the same for you as each system's thermal operation is different because of the variables; local operating environment, user knowledge and treatment of the system, software used, where it's operated, even differences in AC supplied power to the adapter can influence thermal variables.

Don't condemn it before you get it.

yea, im thinking i would rather not spend more money, but then again, it is a good deal, and idk...

Also, does putting AS5 on my new Asus void the warranty?

are you a gamer and plan on overclocking your gpu/cpu? if you are then I would recommend getting a cooler. If you're not, but have the cash to spare, I would get one anyways to leave on your desk, another benefit of a cooler is to raise the rear and makes it more comfortable typing on your laptop. (of course you could also use any objects for this).

Putting AS5 will void the warranty.

I second what doug has advised. If you plan to game and have plans to OC them get a cooler. Nc1000 is fairly cheap these days.

Don't buy a cooler until you receive your laptop. For many laptops, simply propping up the laptop's back side up two inches or so reduces temperatures enough and renders a cooler somewhat unnecessary.

Wait until you get your laptop, and monitor your temperatures for a while before deciding.

i already know about what my temps will be...
but i started second thinking if i really needed one or not.
I now flipped to "ill see" because $50 that i dont have to spend is $50 for insurance xD

i never exactly understand why people saw the "need" to buy a cooler with a laptop.

you dont need a cooler unless; your laptop is not very well design, ur gaming on your laptop, you're paranoid, your ambient temperature is high.

some of these cooler is not really well design anyway..

I have never bought a laptop cooler. If you have to carry extra stuff just to cool the laptop, it will kill the portability of the laptop. Not to mention the eyesore. You don't need one unless you overclock your notebook. Even for gaming it should be OK, unless your notebook is very badly designed. I have never had a laptop that crashed due to overheating.

What about something like the iXoft made by Thermaltake? That might be good for lap use. I'm considering purchasing it.
