    Hi

I have a Lenovo T430 notebook. It has a VGA port and a miniDisplayport
I plan on buying a Benq XL2410T monitor tomorow which only has DVI-D-DL, HDMI input. It comes with a DVI-D-DL cable. I have no hdmi cable.
But i need to run it in 120hz @ 1080p

And i dont need eyefinity or multiple display setups so i dont want to spend 100$ on an adaptor

    So what can i do?

please i need an answer here
    will this work at 120hz?

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-adapter

    or this>?

You'll need an active Displayport to Dual-Link DVI adapter, like the one from Apple and Sapphire.

Here's the Apple one. Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

Neither of the ones you posted will work (beyond 60hz), and nor will similar (priced) ones with full-sized displayport sockets. The ones you need will have an additional USB plug, from which it draws power for additional electronics in the adapter. These will be significantly more expensive but there's no way around it.

I have no idea if there's a genuinely working direct cable for Mini Displayport to HDMI 1.4a. (It will have to be 1.4 - 1.3 and below or standard HDMI cables will not work) There's some around on fleabay, you could give them a try.

thanks for the reply, ill look into it

looks like hdmi will not support 120hz. even though many use hdmi for 3d.
i wont spend more than 5$ on an adaptor
anyways, now im left with the option to buy another monitor that has 120hz and displayport.
mini DP- DP wire should have no problem sending 1080p@120hz right?

i got both the xl2420t and a mini dp to dp, both male, connected , everything works, detected drivers, but no 120hz choice, what could it be?
is the cable at fault, its startech, lifetime warranty

my gpu is quadro 5400m and i have 305.93 drivers

works now, had to choose a resolution from the pc ones, not the tv.
so happy, can see the difference from the way the cursor moves

That's a great monitor and my best investment yet. You'll love it.
