    To All the Sling Users:

I would like to order a Slingbox in the next day or two and I was wondering if you could advise me on which model to buy and also answer some basic setup and operational questions that I have. I really appreciate all your input. Thanks!!!

First, I would like to describe my setup.

    Room 1:

    Panasonic 50" Plasma TH50-PX60U
Onkyo 7.1 Channel Receiver and speakers - HTS-790
Cablevision - SA 8300 HD with DVR (HD Recording capable)
    Toshiba P-Scan DVD Player
Logitech Harmony 8800 macro programmed remote.
    Linksys WRT300n Wireless N-Router
    Assembled Win XP Desktop - C2D / ATI 1900HD / 200gigs etc.
    Optonline High Speed Internet.
Internet Speed according to Speedtest: 9684Kbps down and 1730KBPS Up.

    Room 2:

    Sony 40" CRT
    Cablevision SA-4200
    Toshiba P-Scan DVD
No Ethernet Lan connections. Wireless connection present from other room.
Room 1 is where our family watches most of our TV. Room 2 is hardly used for media purposes at all.

The main reason I want to get Sling is because I will be moving to India in the next two weeks for one year on business and I would like to watch my US content which mainly comprises of HBO / Encore / HBO On demand / Golf in HD / Fox / FX and other select DVR'd shows. I will not be watching from other media sources such as DVD, etc. Just the cable box and inbuilt DVR.

I will be watching my content on

An Dell 1520 Laptop with 1440 X 900 resolution in India.
HP DV6500T laptop connected to Samsung 37" LCD via DVI in India
My sister will be watching some content on her Dell M1330 at school.
So here are some of my questions:

    1. Based on my setup and requirments which room should I setup Sling in and what model should I get - the Pro or the AV?

    2. Will I be able to watch my sling media in India? Most broadband providers in India offer 256Kbps downloads at a minimum and 2MBPS max (The latter option costs $75 a month) so I am going to middle off the road - about 300KPBS. Is this enough bandwith for sling to work with regular / DVR and HD content? What is the lowest bandwith sling will work smoothly at?

    3. From my understanding, I will not be able to sling HD Output out of my home network (Please correct me if I am wrong) and I do not plan on slinging HD output within my home network but I would still like to watch my HD content (DVR and live channels) overseas and in the house albeit at a downgraded quality. Do I need the HD Pro Connect cable?

    4. Can the Sling software be installed on multiple computers? What happens if 2 computers try to connect simoultaneously to the Sling (even to watch the same channel?) Does one get kicked off? Or can both watch the same channel at the same time? Or Different channels?

    5. When I connect from India will I be operating the whole setup in the US. I mean - I dont want to turn the TV on blast the volume etc. and take charge when my family is sleeping! Is their a way to setup the system so none of the devices turn on and I use the channels / dvr discretely?

    6. Time difference should take care of this and my family in the US and my TV viewing schedules in India should not cross paths since India is 11 hours ahead. But in the rare situation if we both are on the sling and TV at the same time what happens? Will it become a ghost operation in the US or can we both watch different shows simultaneously? Or again is there a way to set this up discretely so both dont interfere with each other.

I really appreciate all your help and advice!

Bump for the sake of this might be an awesome thing for me to consider if these questions get answered.
