OK - so I think it's time to check out a new wired headset. What are you most interested in getting / seeing a review of?

The one with the most mentions gets bought and tested alongside the PC350, MMX 300 and the G35.

Razer Carcharias (stereo) or Megalodon (7.1), or the Plantronics GameCom 377 (stereo) or 777 (7.1).

I vote for the Audio Technicas mentioned by Vicious, the Beyerdynamic MMX 300's, or the Sennheiser PC350's you are considering.

Call me a snobby audio elitist, but I always make it a point to buy audio equipment from companies who are in the sole business of making audio equipment... which is why I will never buy Razer.

I will call you a snobby audio elitist then, since your assumptions are irrelevant :p

Razor is over priced anyways :D

The MMX 300 is sure to be nice, but from what I hear its little more than a Beyerdynamic 770 with a micrphone boom added on for nearly double the cost.

That is of course why I modified my AT's and added my own mic for like $13.00 :D

Its also one of the reasons I would never buy a dedicated headset. It limits your choosing options as compared to all the other great headphones out there and increases the cost greatly.

I'd definitely plump for an MMX 300 over the DT 770. The mic is almost broadcast-grade for starters.

    Oh no wait, I have... :D :p

Just in case it's not clear, the new headset will join the MMX 300's, G35's (yes, 's) and the PC350 and will be compared. I've decided to unload a couple of the G35's and make room for something new.

Yeah, but are you going to be broadcasting any football games anytime soon ? :D

Most people just use teamspeak/vent/youtube and in those situations the interface will limit the quality well before the hardware will. I find the $10 mic to be more than good enough. I just cant pay $120.00 for a microphone witch is what your doing if you get the MMX 300 instead of a DT 770 basically.

    Still enjoy them.

Next on my list is... Denon D2000 to cover my basshead needs.

My voice deserves a good mic - to cut through other taped-up mic-using people's muffled utterings :p

    Actually its Velcro :D Hahahaha

One nice thing is I only attach when needed and use the same mic for all headphones, been going back and forth between AD700 and A700 all day and its nice to not change my recording properties in the control panel like you would have to do with separate microphones.

AD700 better for recording for me since its open air I can hear myself talk so its more natural than talking "blind" with closed headphones.

Oh got bored made you a new avatar :p

The new Asus card is pretty popular but seems to have a compatibility issue with ATI GPUs...

DO NOT BUY asus xonar essence stx if you have an ATI 5xxx video card - Head-Fi.org Community

Just a heads up, I use a 5870 GPU so it would be a big no no for me. Im all set with a X-Fi Xtreme Music already though, best bang for your buck higher end sound card for desktops when it was on sale.

I got my first one for a bit under $100 when it was new, broke it doing a op-amp mod, so got a second one later when creative had a closeout sale and it was only $40.00!
