I am looking at laptop backpacks, and I saw the North Face "Borealis" and "Recon" models. Both looked to be well made laptops, but I couldn't figure out if the sleeves will fit my 15.4 inch screen laptop (HP Pavilion dv6000 if it makes any difference). The tags and specs didn't specify.

Anyone have either of these and can help?

it may be a tight fit. i have the north face "big shot" which is a little larger than the recon and the boraelis. it fits my 14" slim widescreen perfect with extra room to spare. i've had the recon before and it seemed like the laptop compartment was big enough for 15" but i'd go for the big shot if i were you.

edit: oh yeah my gf used to carry boraelis and it's a pretty small backpack. it also looks quite feminine from design standpoint :)

i have a recon. im pretty sure a 15 in would fit, but you ought to have a cushion or something for the big flat part (back of the screen or bottom of laptop) because in the recon, the laptop part, its just fabric. no cushion. but the bottom is covered well.

I have a Recon as well. Mine has a very thin foam layer at the bottom of the compartment, not much, but every little bit helps. I can fit my 13.3" M1330 w/ sleeve into it, and a 14.1" HP dv2500 w/o sleeve will fit pretty snug. I'd say a 15.4" should fit w/o a sleeve, but might not fit too well with one.

Check eBags.com to see if your laptop would fit in the pouch as they provide the dimensions they can carry.

And avoid Jansport. Their new backpacks are absolute trash now. Not the same quality as before in my opinion.

im going to get a surge too for my m15x when i get the computer whenever that will be. i currently use a hot shot and that doesnt have any padding and the surge is suppose to have a good area for laptops.

Xyko is u want to see some pictures take a look at this post.
