I've been tearing my hair out trying to find a notebook cooler capable of doing this.

I game/surf on the couch 100% of the time (since I dislike desks) and I'd like to find a notebook cooler that I can put on my lap and place the laptop on-top.

I know there's some that exist out there, but after looking at dozens of models, I haven't been able to find one to suit my needs. I've also been looking at many, many reviews and user comments to see if anyone listed it was lap-friendly.

About 6 months ago I found one that was lap-friendly with a pillow attachment (I don't recall what make and model, though), which would be okay I guess.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance ;)

    I totally forgot about lapdesks!

You're right about opening more options.

lapdesk gives you some mouse space, but if you need cooling pad for some reason the notepal infinity is flat and pulls air from the back so it can work on a lap or in a bed etc where other coolers can not.

great suggestion. i'm just not sure how comfortable it'll be when u actually use it on your lap though.

personally, the Lapinator is the best "lapdesk" i've ever come across. not only is it comfortable and super versatile, i like how they focused on improving the laptop's airflow by raising the back up. it's one of the few coolers, that u can use on your lap comfortably, that actually improve your temps. the available mouse attachment is a very convenient option as well.

How about a laptop cart.. You get the stability of a desk, yet ease of couch computing without the weight on your thighs..

Something like seems good.. Amazon.com: Split-Top Laptop Caddy! Portable Adjustable Rollin: Electronics

you could put it on the side of the couch and have the laptop facing you and can even adjust tilt..

in fact that would be nearly perfect design IMO if you had separate high sustainability for the laptop and mouse trays..

i have one of these too. :p while it is pretty convenient, it's nowhere near as comfortable as being able to kick back on the bed or couch with something like the Lapinator.

I think I was looking at the Lapinator after your other message and looked through a few (though pretty much all lame) reviews...

How would the Lapinator do with a very very heavy laptop like the Alienware M18x? The specs show it'll probably hang off the back a bit, but not using a desk might make putting the laptop aside easier/faster...

If you know of any good links or reviews, I wouldn't mind reading more and thanks.

I was thinking more of getting this medical looking desk myself originally.

did u make sure u were lookin at the "plus" model? here are the specs for it. it's supposed to be 18 inches so it shouldn't have any problems housing the M18x. i haven't seen the M18x in person, but the Lapinator Plus fits my NP8850, and my friend's 17" HP just fine. the "bumpers" lift the back of the laptop up, so it really helps from making your laptop hang off the back too much, if at all.

Yeah, I was looking at this one...How's the weight feel? I suppose I can get a 13lb box and set it on myself to test a bit...

the lapinator itself weighs next to nothing, so it's just the weight of your laptop u're worried about. the bottom of the cooler is nicely padded so i doubt u'll feel it. there's pictures and reviews on the Lapinator site, and additional pictures and reviews on amazon.
