What is the best way to secure the data on your laptop? I have a secure network, anti-virals and all of that, but how about securing data in the case of theft?
I have seen some ads for USB keys, any idea of how well they work?
Thanks for your advice and suggestions.

Password and Encryption. You might want to set the power-on password and hard disk password. After than you can use encryption softwares for confidential data. I am not sure how good this is, but this looks good, and it's a freeware. Check out the TrueCrypt. I use Thinkpad's own encryption software, and if I didn't have that, I would use this.

Truecrypt is fast and easy. You could partition your hdd so that the data partition is encrypted. Truecrypt will do that for you.
