I'm currently looking for a new notebook in the area of 14/15" with NVidia 650M or better. There are plenty on the market, but all seem to run very hot. (>50°C surface temp.) This not really acceptable to me, because i'm living in a smokers flat, which is multiplying heat problems over the years. (Ofc i know about regular cleaning) Hence i like to find a way to improve cooling. The Notebook Coolers Buyers Guide was already a good start, but i'm more interested in cooling solutions attached to the notebook itself, because of mobility reasons. Three things come to mind:
A higher stand for improving airflow under the notebook. I assume there are some solutions for this out there, but which are good ?
Putting some cooling solutions into the DVD drive tray slot. I'm going to remove the DVD drive anyway, because of weight reasons, and was hoping i could replace this with a cooling solution ? Ofc this will be very dependent on how the interior is designed, but are there ANY usefull products for this concept ?
And last but not least, what about coolers that can be clamped to the side of the laptop ?
