My Asus z70va has baked my wood veneer table, leaving the spot it was on discoloured (orange on the light maple wood finish) and cracking. I'm thinking about getting a notebook cooler, but will this actually help my situation, or will the cooler still transfer a lot of the heat to the table?

    Sorry to hear that :(

First try a stand and see if that works, if not maybe a cooler would be good for you.

Thanks guys. I'm having a hard time finding a stand that keeps my notebook at typing level. With coolers, I understand that they draw heat away from the notebook, but would they transfer the bulk of the heat to the table?

Most coolers actually force cold air into the notebook. Read the guide in my sig :)

or what my wife uses are one of the belkin mats they sell. it will raise it up a bit the the notebook sits on a hard foam like layer about 1.5" thick. its not a cooler but she uses this on our dining tabgle to not ruin such a expensive table even if just because the feet scratch it up at all.. works great
