I moved your thread, no worries.

It is preferable to have the cooling pad blow air into the fans; you see, if the cooling pad's fans are sucking away, that can create a vacuum and actually cause temperatures to go up. By blowing air into the fans, the cooling pad is giving them more air and reducing the surface temperature of the bottom of the notebook at the same time.

I do not know anything about the cooling pad you mentioned here, but I definitely recommend taking a look at the Zalman NC-1000 or the NC-2000; the latter is optimized to fit 17" notebooks.

The zalman nc-2000 looks just the job! Does anyone know any UK outlets that sell it? Seems mostly american/australian.

the only UK reseller i know of a zalman cooler is dabs.com and they only offer the nc-1000 at the moment. overclockers and ebuyer don't offer either and can't find any UK retailers on a quick google search

OK cool - I'va had alook around and it looks like there are a few UK suppliers that are going to start stocking them. Some of them are looking like they have purchase orders in with Zalman for the coolers and are just waiting for supply. Around a months seems to be the common theme.
