Hi,
I'm looking for a mouse to replace the touchpad because I'm not very good at pointing with it [] So the main question is: why to choose a notebook mouse over a regular one?? Of course I understand that notebook mice are smaller and have features such as retractable cable or tiny wireless receivers that make them more portable than regular mices but is this really worth it? From all the reviews I've seen, it seems that notebook mices, due to their small size, are way less comfortable to use than any regular size mouse so this is why I'm hesitating to get one since I plan to use the laptop over long periods sometimes (and regular mices are cheaper too..). I agree that for a wireless unit, a notebook mouse is better because of the small USB eceiver but for a wired mouse I wonder if getting a regular one would be better.
- Is there any difference in tracking ability of the optical sensor between a notebook and a regular mouse (not speaking about high end mouse for gaming)?
- Any difference in battery drain between a notebook mouse and a regular one (both being optical and wired)? Same question between wired and wireless mouse?
- Would you really recommend a wired optical notebook mouse over a regular wired optical mouse?? Why?
Thanks

Really comes down to hou much and how cluttered you want your bag to be. I went to a notebook mouse after I tried my friends Microsoft Notebook mouse. It is small but still comfortable and the reciver snaps nicely in the bottom of the mouse when not in use. Batter life is good. I would suspect the logitec is also good. Typical wireless mice require a bigger bulkier receiver wich, for me, takes up too much space in the bag. You should be able to find the microsoft on sale for 29. Not a bad investment if you are as bad on the touchpad as I am.

If you're going to be using it a lot, get a full sized unit, it will be much more comfortable.

Kilou, This is totally off subject but i noticed in another of your posts you stated that you have the s260. I am desperately trying to find one but unfortunately there are none to purchase in the US. Where did you get yours? Any response would be appreciated. Thank you

I got my self a full size. I feel the notebook mouse a bit too small. Also like Brian said, you'll have to see how often you use it.
Remember try the mouse before you buy, see if you like the feel of it[]

I'd suggest you to go try then in the store first.
also consider if you are going to travel with the mouse. if you are, the retractable is better and clutter-free. if not, save your self some dough and get the normal mouse

Hi...
I guess it all comes to personal preferences. Three years ago i decided to give notebook mice a shot, and i haven't been able to use a full-size mouse ever again. I find them big, uncomfortable, heavy... It'll depend on your hands, really. If they're big, go for the desktop size; if they're small, try a notebook one and decide what fits you better.
Right now, i have a Kensington PocketMouse LE, with retractable cord. Works fine, although i'm not a hardcore gamer.
Cheers. -
Depends on usage and your situation. If you'll be moving around a lot and be short on space, you may want to go notebook mouse. They have a lot of useful features like retractable cable or a compartment for the usb dongle in the mouse itself, etc. but you already know that.
If you are gaming, however, (especially for FPS) you need a gaming mouse. I went with the Logitech G7 and I love it--although I don't take my laptop with me very often. -

i've noticed that some 'notebook mice' are not micro-sized.. which works well for me. I have a logitech v270, and its between the crazy little mice and a full size mouse.. just an option...
and speaking of the v270, it can track on anything i put it on--except something shiny and white. but as far as pillows, arms of sofas, the back of my hand, my forehead, it tracks really well... -

It amases me as to how people test the tracking nature of a mouse by trying it on a carpet, wooden floor, tiled floor. etc.... Thats funny.
With respect to the logitech V270 in comparison to the bluetooth explorer mouse:
- The ergonomic on the v270 are poo
- Okay Okay, So the V270 has an on/off button
- But the Intelli Explorer has side scrolling (ooohhh)
But that said there is a cool black G7 out naw. the only sad part is that its not entirely portable -
I personally use a mx510 for my desktop and whenever I use a small mouse somewhere else it feels all weird so I'm sure it's a personal choice when it comes to purchasing a mouse.

Does anybody have an idea about battery life on the Bluetooth explorer mouse? Its going to be my ultimate deciding factor!!
