Is there anything worth buying for the quick bathroom break in a library or during lecture breaks or they are all useless and give false sense of security?

You don't like the cord/tether options? Most laptops have a locking port...

No laptop lock is completely secure, but the typical Kensington lock cables work quite well if you're just using your laptop in the library. It's enough of a deterrent to keep it safe... after all, no one carries cable cutters into a library unnoticed

That depends on the library or lecture hall. If everyone present is wealthy, honest, and/or have no possible use for a laptop, then a lock might be sufficient. Otherwise, any breaks you take where you leave your laptop unattended locked or otherwise, is just asking for trouble.

If I were you, I'd find a classmate or attendant (you can trust, and is dependable) and ask them to watch it for you when you leave. Otherwise, it's just to big a chance to take with your valuable property.

From my experience, people tend to take advantage of an opportunity; and they don't always think about the consequence or repercussion they might encounter after the fact. Keeping that in mind, don't put yourself in a position to become a victim.

Besides, even if they're not successful trying to steal it, they can still damage it trying to.

Buy a really old giant laptop. Gut the inside of it. Now put your nice one inside the old crappy big one.... No one will take a laptop that looks like its from 1990's
