I had a $100 credit from Dell for crappy customer support (long story about it, but they made up for it) that expired forty minutes ago. About six minutes after it expired I ordered a Razer Lachesis, Lachesis means "bringer of silent death" blue mouse and a 100 DVD-R DVD spindle. The coupon still worked. Anybody own a Razer Lachesis? It looks like a really sick mouse. The optical mouse my XPS came with was actually pretty nice, much nicer than what HP gives. My school has HP mouses that came with their new HP desktops, but they're ugly and don't work too well. I originally decided to get a Razer Lachesis with my system when I ordered it, but I was waiting for the red version. That never came in stock, so I just ordered my system without it and decided I'd order it when it came in. It never did so I got stuck with the blue version anyway, but I got it for free, so I don't really care
. I could have got the red version from Amazon, which is the only place that sells it, but since I had the $100 Dell credit I bought it from Dell. It'll probably take some getting used to, but it should be a lot nicer than my Dell mouse, despite the fact that it really is a great mouse.

i use a razer lachesis, and it is a great mouse. the only problems i have is that the cursor will jump to the top of the screen sometimes and i can sometime mess you up in games.i haven't tried reloading the driver yet so that might fix it.
-
Heres a review.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Razer/Lachesis
I bought one aswell because it has lots of buttons for surfing/gaming
-
i did both but it still jumps, but after reading this it reminded me to try reinstalling the driver.
-
I only ever noticed the jumping outside of games, but updating the firmware fixed that for me also. I have to crank the sensitivity way down outside of gaming to avoid copying files when I'm just trying to select them ( Cntrl + left click while selecting multiple files ). It's still a little touchy for normal use but is great for games.
-
i reloaded the driver and it did jump up while i games, but it usually happens when i have cover so it doesn't mess me up too bad.
-
try using a different mousepad or surface
-
have tried other mouse pads, it's probably cause i use a $4-5 mouse pad.
-
I've purchased quite a few mice, including the Lachesis. Performance is pretty good, but ergonomics and side-button placement are on the bad side. Since the mouse is pretty much wedge-shaped, any use of the side buttons tended to "squirt" the mouse forward out of my hand. I tried holding the mouse tighter to compensate, but this only increased hand fatigue. I eventually gave up on the Lachesis, and now it sits in a box in my closet.
Now I use an Ikari Steel Series Laser. Performance is similar to the Razer (actually better with the 1cpi-adjustability), but it's matched to an ergonomically superior design. I can use it for hours without any hand/wrist fatigue (unlike the Lachesis). -

I just got my Razer Lachesis! To start, like I expected because of my Razer Lycosa, which still looks new, works amazingly, and looks really sweet, the Razer Lachesis looks even nicer in person! I wasn't too sure about the blue light, but it looks really nice and the mouse feels comfortable. I still have to get used to using this, but it feels really solid and build quality is perfect, like with any Razer product. Normally, I won't talk about product packaging, but Razer must spend a good amount of time designing the packaging itself, and it really shows. I can tell that this mouse feels a lot more accurate than my Dell mouse, and any testimonials or reviews you've read about the mouse definitely feel true the second you get your hands on one! I'm going to go customize my drivers and profiles and see what I end up with.
BTW, how long did it take you guys to get used to the shape? It feels nice in my hand, but I've used a standard computer mouse my entire life, so this might take a little while to get used to. -
a new mouse takes a couple days to break into. its like a new shoe. Once you wear the shoe long enough it will feel much better. I spent a couple days to get used to my deathadder. Just play a couple fps games for a while and it will come naturally i guess.
-
I found it really awkward at first, took me a few hours of gaming to get used to the new sensitivity and ugly mouse shape.
I cant seem to use the left (side) buttons properly. My pinky or ring finger seem to be on the wrong position everytime i try click them. I wish they moved it forward closer to the right click button. -

Anyone know the macro or function for "open link in new tab" for firefox?
I know how to close tabs using CTRL+W as a macro. I cant seem to find any of these commands in the preset functions -
-
Yeah thats what im using atm but i keep scrolling by accident. The lachesis's scroll button needs a bit more force compared to normal mouses.
CTRL+tab only opens a new window. I need "Open new window for the clicked link"
Id like the side buttons to be Open/Close tab. Much easier to surf specially when you have like 50 tabs open
Also i wanna program the 'DPI switch' mini buttons to be 'Next/Previous tab'

How do you guys program button actions to the Lachesis (like crtl or something?)? I didn't see any options for that in the Lachesis configuration program. I'm trying to get it set up with Bioshock to get it to switch the wrench when I press one of the buttons on the side.
-
Choose "Advanced function" for a button function and the sidebar will pop out letting you choose whatever function you want
You can program it to do all sorts of cool stuff. Like in Bf2, my side button is Jump then crouch (good for dodging) -
One thing that I like about the G9 and new G5 is actually more for web surfing than gaming. They both has the tilt scroll wheel which I have bound to previous/next tab
My normal setup:
left tilt wheel - previous tab
right tilt wheel - next tab
thumb button 1 - refresh
thumb button 2 - close tab
And of course with the G9, I can switch profiles quickly for playing games as well
---
Michael, I'm pretty sure you could bind the wrench just from the configuration options within bioshock itself. -
Personally, I own a Razer Lachesis (Banshee Blue), and so far it is the best mouse I have ever used... it took me quite a while to get used to the high DPI (4,000 DPI at a 14" Laptop Screen), though, "I'm lovin' it", I like the ergonomics, and how it can glide over a lot of surfaces (even on my desk, though I just did that once), 4,000 DPI was no longer an issue after I got my NP9262, the smooth control, speed and pin-point accuracy of the mouse is incredible on First / Third person shooters. I agree, the side buttons can be hard to reach, but just like Exiled said, "A new mouse takes a couple days to break into. its like a new shoe. Once you wear the shoe long enough it will feel much better.", also, I like it that they are not pressed easily, less accidental clicks than with other gaming mice. The scroll wheel is awesome too, just like the side-buttons, it cannot be rolled easily, and it has a solid-feel to it. My only complaint about the Razer Lachesis would be... the 1.64 Firmware (which is supposed to fix the jumping of the pointer) messed the profiles changer, the mouse resets whenever I switch to Profile 1. Anyway, a great mouse, very responsive, ergonomic, accurate and comfortable, also it has that Black and Blue cliché most gaming accessories have nowadays.

What mouse pads do you guys use?
-
-
I have a M3 Precise mouse pad with gel wrist rest...using a DiamondBack.
Also Currently bidding on a Deathadder on Ebay.
EDIT: I am now an owner of the Razer Deathadder... -
Using a 2-3 dollars Generic Blue Cloth Mousepad I bought at Mexico City as a Souvenir 3 years ago, the wrist rest has become somewhat obstructive... I put the mousepad into the washing machine, sun-dried it and the cloth is somewhat 'lifted' around the wrist rest, so the mouse keeps bumping against it, though I am replacing it soon, most likely with a SteelSeries or a Razer mousepad.
-
Congrats Johnny, im sure you will like the deathadder.
I was using a $1 IKEA mouse pad, but i just purchased a Razer mantis pad today for $20. I was gonna get the razer exactmat but it didnt really like it.
The size of razer mousepads are too big. It doesnt fit on my desk. -
-
Whats the size of the exactmat? I might give this to my brother and buy one of those
I thought the mantis would be smaller but i was wrong lol
I have to make half the mat hang out my desk so my keyboard can fit -
newegg has the exactmat for 25 bucks, or 35 if you want the exactmat/wrist rest bundle...its a memory foam wrist rest, but i dont like it at all. i move my wrist very slightly when gaming, and the wrist rest felt like more of a hinderance than anything useful. -
That is a massive mouse pad...:-O
I'll probably be the 1st person to use the deathadder with a claw grip...>.> Very much looking forward to it though, I have been wanting it for the past year since the 1st time I used it... -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
BTW, when I was playing on Friday (I was gone all 4th of July weekend!) I was getting headshots like crazy in Unreal Tournament 3 and Bioshock! -
The Razer mantis pad is quite good. Definately improved my accuracy and gave me alot of extra frags. It also stopped the random jumping i was getting from my $1 IKEA pad. Even though it was designed for Prof. use, MMORPG and RTS games. it still performs for FPS games.
Currently on 1750dpi 1000hz, still need to get fully accustomed to it. -
I am sort of in search for another mouse pad with a gel wrist pad...I can never go back again after using one... Any good suggestions? I don't really want anything too big, thats why I have held back on the exact mat with the wrist pad (abit pricey too). If I can't find another one, then I guess I'll get another 3M precise.

The Lachesis is a very good mouse but the support leaves to be desired!
I've owned mine for a couple of months now. Updated both the driver and the firmware to the latest... and occasionally the mouse pointer still jumps to the top of the monitor. -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Did anyone elses' Lachesis have any small build quality problems? Under the right mouse button, there's a really small bump that's pretty much the same as what you would get if you cut it with a nail or something. I'll probably get it exchanged for another one, that's really annoying, especially for a $80 mouse. Too bad, I'll probably have to deal with getting it and sending it to Dell for the exchange.
-
Mine's got something similar on the left mouse button. It isn't visible but it feels like a little raised dot. Sure I expected better from an expensive mouse but I'm more disappointed in the firmware/driver support. The little raised dot I can live with it. It tickles my finger kinda...
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Mine's visible as a white dot, so I'd guess the bump on mine is a bit worse than yours.
-
-
No bumps or manufacturing imperfections here.
Ill rename this thread into the Official Lachesis thread -
@flip...I got my mouse today...should I got start a Deathadder owner's club?
