I really love this bag, but the review done by HappyCamper is done with a 14.1" notebook and I really need to know if it'll fit my E1505. I measured the dimensions, and my E1505 goes over the max length (10.5") by about a quarter of an inch.

It's also hard because of all these mixed reviews on eBags.com

"...notebook compartment is a little tight on my 15.4" Dell E1505"

"Fits my e1505 (15.4 widescreen) easy access for airpot checks."

"I am in Medical school and have to carry several large books and my 15.4 inch laptop with me whereever I go. This bag has plenty of room for everything I need."

"Also, the front pocket used for a quick laptop "drop-in" pocket is too small for a 15.4 inch laptop. Your laptop has to be very small to fit in this convenience pocket."

"Fits My 15.4" widscreen laptop like a glove."

"I fit a 15.4" widescreen Dell with no problems."

So you can understand my dilemma. I also ready basically every Ogio Metroid post here on notebookreview, but I'm still a little worried. For me, $72 isn't an amount of money to be careless with. Any help is appreciated greatly!

I live the metro and the metroid as well. I tried a metro and the e1505 would not fit. I called ogio and they informed me that the metro and metroid shared the same zipper length, so neither would work, but all is not lost. They make a "promotional" pack called the bounty hunter for 17" laptops that will work great, but only avaliable in black.
    http://www.ogio.com/product.php?product=113
It can be picked up on ebay for 55.00 shipped.
I have a swiss gear wenger coming that was free that I am going to try, but will probably end up with the bounty hunter.
    good luck

^Wow, thanks a lot. Good insight on the bounty hunter. Hope it comes out soon with other colors, though.

Actually, Cronic, I guess I could give it a shot.

I did a little bit of reading on the Metro and I read that 14.5" is actually an interior measurement for the laptop compartment and I've read that there's a certain method of sticking the E1505 side in first and switching the side up as you slip the rest in. Was that possible when you did it?

If not, did the laptop simply not fit or was it really tight?

It did not fit, and I am not willing to have to go throgh a "routine" to make it work. the interior has plenty of room, but the zipper openning is to small. I did take about 5 minutes tring to make it work, to no avail.

If you do a little dance and spin in a circle three times then yell "BANANAS!" really loud, it will fit.

Wow, great pack. Does it have the same amount of space on the inside as other ones do from Ogio? I was looking Targus tonight at Circuit City but they had the 15" model...no WAY my 15.4" was fitting in there, tested it there. The 17" would be perfect though...may look into this more.

Hopefully the 'promo' sticks around a while!

Oh, and I love the back panel side-entry system for laptops...kinda a secret little area for it plus it's just nice to seperate it from books, folders, etc.

^If you're talking about the Bounty Hunter, I'd get it as soon as possible. The guy on eBay is a reseller, and once he runs out, he probably runs out for good! (or, at least a good amount of time).

Ever since this thread has been posted, his sales on them have gone crazy.

Just ordered one. It's scheduled to be delivered the 16th! Can't wait to get this thing...I can probably do a review on it if anyone's interested.

Hey Bio_terra and others wondering if your machines will fit--
According to the HP website, the NC8430 measures 10.2 x 14.1 x 1.1 in. (L x W x H). According to Ebags, (and confirmed by my measurements of the actual bag) the Metroid will accommodate notebook computers up to 14.5" x 10.5" x 2.5" (W x L x H) in size. Your HP NC8430 should fit.

If you're still struggling to figure out which way is length vs. width vs. height in deciding whether your notebook computer will fit, perhaps this will help: The Metroid can easily accomodate laptops that measure (when closed) up to 10.5 inches from spacebar-edge to hinge edge. The bag's zipper length is almost exactly 15 inches. So if your machine (when put up on end to slide into the compartment) is fewer than 14.5 inches from tab-key end to enter-key end and is not more than 2.5 inches thick from cover-plane to bottom-plane, you will have no problems using the dedicated notebook-computer compartment on this bag.

You may be wondering why a 15-inch zipper can't accommodate a 15-inch width measurement on your notebook computer. Keep in mind the fact that the zipper has to gape open a bit to get around the inch or two of height your computer surely features. In other words, you could probably slip a 15.0-inch-long single sheet of paper into this zipper, but a notebook computer with any thickness at all (that is, "height" in the measurements given above) eats up a certain amount of the zipper's length in stretching wide to get around the machine's mass. That's why the compartment can only work with machines that feature measurements of fewer than 14.5 inches from edge to edge (measured with the tape held parallel to the rows of keys on the keyboard).

    Hope this helps :)

I dont quite understand, surely the rest of the laptop width must included aswell?

Yes of course. I was simply trying to find a way to indicate which direction I meant with the words "width" and "length" since some people appeared to be struggling with understanding whether their notebook computers that are X inches "wide" would fit into the dedicated compartment. You'll notice I said "tab key END" and "enter key END" to indicate that the measurement would go from the end of the machine closest to the tab key to the end of the machine opposite that, which would be the edge closest to the enter key on a QWERTY keyboard. So, if you're trying to figure out if yours will fit, you should measure from end to end of the whole machine and not just from keyboard key to keyboard key.

I indicated the same measurement with different language when I said "measurements of fewer than 14.5 inches from edge to edge (measured with the tape held parallel to the rows of keys on the keyboard)." Perhaps that description is a bit more clear. :)

I actually ended up getting a Metroid.

The E1505 is 14.5 x 10.75 x ~1.6 and it fits perfectly. Really snug. Not hard to take out, not hard to put in.

i have an ogio nyquist and it fits my 15.4" E1505. Its a pretty tight fit, but i wouldn't call it hard to put in and out. Once its in, its really snug, so it doesn't move around at all which is nice.

My roomate also has the Metroid, and his E1505 fits better than mine. There is slightly more room in his, so it fits great.

I was able to fit my Laptop (Compal Hel80) into a Metro, but I nearly had to cut the bag open to get it out. Needless to say I returned it and bought a different bag. wish I would have known about the Bounty Hunter though.
