I bought a Logitech mini mouse for my laptop. It connects to an USB port and it's wired.
The problem is the laser light does not fade when the mouse is idle, like in in other optical mice I had. I don't think it is a hardware problem, because it works that way with generic drivers and with its owns. Even without drivers (BIOS setup screen) does the same.
Is it a bad thing? On one hand maybe it reacts quickier than a mouse that recovers from indling but, does it consume a lot of battery or wears sooner?

I also used to have a microsoft mouse where the LED light around the mouse (not the pointer, but around the mouse grip) stayed on even when it was idle. I don't think that consumes much battery power - but I do get distracted by the LED light. I prefer mice which don't look too fancy coz they distract me from work

I my case there¡s only light at the pointer, but the bottom half of the mouse is transparent so it looks all red too.

My mouse has no Light :0
Hey... the light doesnt dim because it might be set to always-on mode.. this feature is mostly used in gaming mouse... just check your mouse on logitech website -

ive had various optical mice in the past and the light was always on permanent, i wouldnt worry, on the other mouse it probably just had a feature where it turned it off when idle
Optical mouse: Light is always on
