Ordered P870KM1, which laptop fan would be the best option?

Hi everyone,

I have ordered the P870KM1 from HIDEvolution, but before it arrives I would like to get the best laptop fan for it. I don't mind modding the laptop fan as it seems that most people say that most laptop cooling fans are useless.

I know there must be a couple threads from the past for this question but, just easier for myself to have everything in a thread to help me but in turn benefit others that might see this post.

I hear the most popular laptop cooling stand is the U3 plus from Cool Master but I am not 100% sure which is the fans and extras would be the best choice. I am currently based in the UK (london) so I can order from Amazon UK for example.

A better way to spend the money would be IC Diamond and some extra heatsinks like the ones boutique system builders add to the pipes. It will cool better than any cooling stand.

 

The U3 is indeed the best one. I got mine from HIDevolution themseleves and had it shipped with the laptop

 

Do not waste money on anything else. U3 is the only truly good cooler, and even it's kind of on the lame side with its stock USB powered baby fans. Even with stock fans it is better than anything else. Most cooling pads are garbage and make little or no difference compared to elevating the laptop to help it breathe.

You can use any 120mm fans you wish, but you will get better results spending a little more money on high CFM + high static pressure fans. Don't skip the filters. They help A LOT to keep the inside of the laptop clean. @Papusan uses panty hose and that works just as well. Below you will find a shopping list, photos and video...

Thanks for the reply mate much appreciated! In regards to the IC Diamond for repasting? I figure that HIDEvolution do a solid job in the first place until I would have to repaste down the line. The extra heatsinks sounds like something that i would be interested in following up with. How exactly would i go about doing this? (keep in mind that I am somewhat a novice when it comes to tweaking and so on for a laptop or desktop.

Sweet, I will check with Donald about this later Is there something I could do in the future to help the laptop with temps tweaks and so on?

 

cool ambient environment, cooling pad, and possibly undervolting but get the laptop first and see how the temps are before digging too deep for something that may or not be needed

 

Hi @Mr. Fox Just rounding up the items for the U3 Mod. Unfortunately the Fan Hub is out of stock in the UK Amazon.

Howdy, bro. It looks the same as the Kingwin hub I use, so it must be a copy-cat version. I don't see any reason it would not work the same.
