Is it really bad for gaming or that stand-by thing doesn't bother much in gaming?
If it aint good then you can suggest something else.

The standby doesn't kick in unless you leave the mouse absolutely still for about 10 full seconds, and after that it takes less than half a second to reactivate once you move it again. If you're playing a fast-paced game, you're probably going to keep your mouse moving, and if you're playing a game slow enough to leave your mouse still for 10 seconds, then the split-second wakeup probably won't be an issue anyway.

Besides, if it turns out to be an issue, then you can just plug it in with the USB cable for wired mode. No sleep, no wakeup.

I was in your same position 3 months ago. I purchased the Orochi back in May 31. At first I was very skeptical about it because it was smaller than I expected. Plus I don't have giant hands either... So to me it still felt small.

This was my first Razor mouse so I was pretty excited about having one and using it. So I decided to keep it and just give it a go. It's definitely not a mouse for a palmer which I was. It's a mix of half palming/finger tipping the mouse if you game. It took some time to get use to, I can't stress that enough if you're a palmer. Which was a big down factor for me and was very edgy to return it.

I play "a lot" of mw2 so, within the last 3 months it definitely went through a serious beating. Not like raging and start banging my mouse on the desk. Just very heavy usage.

Three days ago, mouse button 5 died on me. I think the spring got dislodged or something; because when I press it in, there's no spring tension/rebound. So I emailed Razor and have to send it back which is a thread I'm going to post about. Button 5 is the left side button which I use for sprint/holding breath in mw2. So I was pretty damn frustrated when it went out.

Here's the review I did on my mouse

    The pictures explains it all.

The g500 is my original choice and still is. If I was to buy a new mouse right now, I would still order a g500

yeah the orochi is probably suitable for you then. I love the mouse imo, don't get me wrong. Just like any other product there are its downfalls and ups.

If you saw my orochi pictures, my old microsoft mouse is probably the same size as the g500.

Now if you want something just everyday, the logitech mx everyday darkfield mouse is pretty nice. My parents have that, not really for gaming imo because the dpi is not adjustable.

However! It works on glass and is awesome on any surface. It's exactly the same size as the orochi. Just designing of the mouse is different. Only big difference is, the Logitech uses a micro usb 2.4ghz dongle and orochi is dongle free by bluetoof :D so it depends. Nothing too drastic though.

    Not 10 seconds,
it's 2 or 3 seconds which is a casual time for typing on keyboard.
so whenever you type and go back to the mouse, prepare for a freeze.
pretty lame for a high price mouse, because I know other bluetooth mice that have better sleep-timeout

I timed it myself with my watch, starting by leaving it for 1 second and trying increasing intervals. It didn't require a "wakeup" until being left still for 10 seconds. Update your Bluetooth drivers?

Its not a driver issue its the firmware issue. The mouse decides when to sleep. It only takes about 2 secs for the lights to turn out and about 1 sec for the mouse to enter sleep after that.

seems like another inconsistency of the mouse itself.
A lot of people experience 2-3 seconds to sleep. This is my first time hearing 10 seconds to sleep.
No standard in QC ??

Edit: and believe me, I have the latest of them all: bluetooth driver, Orochi firmware, even Orochi FAQ on razer support page confirms that a lot of people experience this bluetooth sleep-freeze

which IMO the answer is pretty BS, because they could adjust the sleep-timeout threshold to improve the mouse.
That leads to: without the cord, the mouse is a Failed product.

Bluetooth mode was never really meant for gaming. The Orochi is a mobile mouse in Bluetooth mode, and a gaming mouse in wired mode. It does both of these well.

LOL yeah. They should have just made it a small Razer Mamba. It can game in both modes.

Most notebook mice have AAA batteries, the Orochi has AA's. It really doesn't need to go to sleep that fast. I'd be happy to replace the batteries more often and have it wait longer to go to sleep. Better yet charge more and give it a rechargable like the mamba.

If you are going to get a mouse where using the wire isn't a problem, then why not buy a wired mouse that is better and cheaper than the Orochi?

Because i can't use the wire all the time. I go to school and i prefer wireless/bluetooth mouse there and i don't play any games in school.

Then the Orochi looks like it would be the right mouse for you.

Every one of Razer's mice are named after snakes.

Could the mouse be better? Yes.
Does it fit the bill for a small mobile, bluetooth mouse? Yes.
Does it improve when you cable it? Yes.

Honestly, if you could change the idle timeout on the sleep. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a small mobile mouse.
