If i were to go to Hong Kong, and I take my laptop with me, would i need to purchase a power converter? I believe that the standard in HK and China is 220 Volt plugs, while it is 110 V in the USA.

Read the small print on the bottom of your existing PSU. Unless yours is a unique model, you will see something like "100-240V. 50/60Hz" which means it will work fine.

You just have to find an adaptor to convert the plug on the power lead to fit the power socket on the wall.
