P870TM1 Headphones/Carry bag

I preordered the P870TM1 and need headphones. Are there any better alternatives to the Sennheiser Game Ones? I have a $200-$300 budget for headphones. I don't want any sort of "base" for them, just wires. They need to be portable. I would consider a microphone that plugs into the headphones.

I also need a laptop bag, any recommendations? Budget isn't an issue, I need to be able to take it onto an airplane plus my carry on. Also, preferably, there would be space for my P870TM1 and another very small, very thin work laptop.

It is very durable, the handles are sturdy despite the heavy weight of the laptop with the charger, it doesn't feel like the handles are going to break if you hold it from only one of them. I have walked in light rain as well while having the backpack on and the laptop wasn't wet so that's another plus point.

Speaking of storage, you can store your entire room in there (not literally) but you have so many pockets / sections it's super roomy and convenient.

I own the Titan myself and it's a great bag but frequent travelers should be aware, it can be too much bag. The bag itself ticks a bit better than 4 lbs on my travel scale by itself. If I throw my DTR in there and it's power supply I'm already at 18 lbs without another thing. My example is obviously extreme but you get the idea, it's a big bag and seemingly half full you can easily hit 30 plus pounds. You can usually get away with that in the US but overseas where bags are in general smaller you're going to get some unwanted attention sooner rather than later and not just for weight but also dimensions. I've been nicked for a fee a half dozen times with that thing and denied entry to the plane once. Didn't matter how much I paid them, the thing wasn't going on with me. Even in the US now you occasionally run into carriers weighing carry on baggage and I suspect we're going to see more of it.

Obviously we're all in control of how much we toss in our bag but as I said it's a big bag and even a modest "meh, I could get a lot more in there loadout" can be quite a lot more than you expect. It's hard to avoid the sense that you may as well bring some more goodies since you've got the space. Outside of weight you have to carefully hold this bag out in front and to the center of you as you walk down the aircraft isle or you'll hit every other isle seat passenger with it. Have it on your back and you always have to pay attention to not clobbering someone with it that's behind you in crowded queues like the security screening line because it's not constrained much from puffing out and it can get out there quite a ways without being full.

You might think I'm down on this bag, I'm not. I really like it, the organization is great and the quality is excellent, it's held up through many years of constant travel and I still use it a lot. Nowadays however it's become a little bit over the top in a shrinking airline passenger world. If you're going to do much flying I would recommend you consider getting something else or have a second bag for that purpose. This bag is much better suited to being a carry to and from the car bag where it's exceptional good and none of it's size problems play out.

 

Get the folding sennhieser game zero headphones. The folding ones. They come with a travel case and work really great, if you dont mind some wires. And it cones with 2 wires. One for pc and one for phone or console playing.

The Game Zero's sound quality does not justify the price.

I'd do something like the NAD Viso HP50 with the V-Moda BoomPro. It folds and comes with a nice carrying case. The soundstage and sound quality are through the roof.

 

I got the Everki Titan specifically for my p870tm1. It fits perfectly in the laptop part of the bag. The only issue that I have with it is the fact the the laptop part lacks padding around the edges. If you set the bag down too hard of if the bag falls off a chair or something you could end up breaking your screen if the bag lands on the edge. My last laptop bag was a Booq. It had TONS of padding around the edges of the laptop part of the bag. I would have gotten another one but they dont sell a bag big enough to handle my beast of a laptop!

You could EASILY fit another laptop in this bag along with the p870tm1. I plan on carrying a USB C monitor so I'll have 2 screens while using my machine.

 

The padding issue at the corners can be remedied by putting it into a Slappa laptop sleeve (for 17" laptops), and then putting the Slappa into the Everki. It would be a quite difficult fit, but as long as the laptop fits into the slappa itself, it should fit into the Everki with it inside. If the laptop BARELY Fits into the Titan without the sleeve (meaning, extremely difficult to get it into the housing area), then you probably won't be able to get it into that compartment, but you should at least be able to get it into the compartment above the padding area itself still.

 

The SONY MDRX1000s are great. No experience w/Sennheiser but tested against Sony QuietComfort (brought both on the plane) and really liked the SONYs (prices have dropped).
