Recently got a xbox 360 controller, and can't imagine how I gamed without it.
Only problem is I never know if a game is compatible until I've tried it, which can make for a lot of disappointments. Some titles are labelled "Games for Windows" and have mandatory xbox 360 controller support; if the game was designed to use controllers at all. But lots of games do not sport the logo due to indifferences with the requirements.
So I thought I would create a list for all those interested in gaming with this pad, to enable us to make more informed purchasing decisions when it comes to buying games that support the features of this gamepad. Notably Vibration and z axis trigger buttons.
Preferably the list will contain those games that work without any messy button configuration and I will write these under heading (Fully Supported) if it maps all the buttons correctly and fully with support for vibration.; as far as I am aware. I only have a limited amount of games on my computer at the moment, so I need your help compiling this.
However older titles are also welcome, but I will write nothing after them unless there are problems. E.g. Compatible, but not enough buttons on controller to map all major actions
Finally, is there a list like this anywhere else, such as Microsoft's official sites?
If Im wrong anywhere, please correct me.
So please post the
1) Name of the game
2) "Fully Supported" Game or Not
3) Any problems with mapping
Fully Supported
Tomb Raider: Legends
Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Halo 2
Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Rainbow Six Vegas
DiRT
May Require Button Remapping
Halo 1
MDK 2
MAME32

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Rainbow Six Vegas is fully supported. AFAIK there are no mapping problems.
-
i know the game DiRT is fully supported. its actually recommended in the readme. but beware the game runs like garbage. the recommended gpu is an 8800 series like desktop gts or gtx. omg it runs like crap

I was looking at getting the wireless adapter to allow the 360 wireless to work on my laptop... has anyone tried these or know if the compatibility with games is different from the wired controllers?
-
-
Cool, thanks. I was so close to getting one this afternoon, but now that I have that confirmation, I'll be getting it soon
Do you know if it works well with Battlefield 2? -
I've never thought of using a controller for fps games and don't have bf2 so I couldn't say for sure

If there's any games that don't work, download Joy2Key. It should make every game work, especially since the 360 doesn't have digital analog buttons like the original Xbox one did.

I think there's a newer/ better version of Joy2Key out also.

if you have a wired controller i suggest the Xbcd360 remapper. it does wonders.

Great thread!
I love using the 360 controller for roms! I am a huge fan of super punchout! -
Will the controller also work for traditional real-time strategy games (i.e. to emulate the mouse) on things like Command and Conquer, Warcraft, Empire Earth, etc.???

Download the aforementioned keymapper, and set every single button on your joystick to a key on your keyboard. That's all I can say.
My 360 controller is coming this afternoon. I should be using it within two hours. I'll check some things out and see if I can help. -
I picked up my wireless receiver and have been using http://xpadder.com/
I've been able to play F.E.A.R., Battlefield 2 and Sensible Soccer so far without ANY problems ! -
Add to the list of natively compatible programs:
1. Project 64 (N64 emulator)
2. Onimusha 3 (demon-fighting game, arcade style, really do need a controller for it)
PC Games compatible with Xbox360 Controller
