    Hi all,

    I have been trying to make use of my PCMCIA slot and bluetooth capability on my laptop, but I haven't been able to find something useful yet...

    I found this recently;

    http://www.interlinkelectronics.com/index.php?id=Njg1

    ... But unfortunately, this only works for the ExpressCard Slot. This would have been perfect for my usage. I really wanted a remote to be able to control Windows Media Player when I am not sitting at the computer desk, and then I found this...

    http://www.acrobak.com/products_remote_RCV314.php

    ... But unfortunately once again, this would only work for Windows Vista, and I am using XP now...

    Can anyone recommend something similar? I want a remote that can just perform basic functions such is controlling apps like windows media player/powerpoint etc.

    Or if you could recommend products that would make use of the bluetooth/PCMCIA that would be much appreciated, thanks!

    If you want a remote control, I would strongly suggest you consider a wiimote (the controller for the wii). With it, not only can you bind the buttons to play, pause, etc. but you can control your mouse by just pointing at the screen. The work required to get it all set up takes a while, but when its all working, its freakin niiice to be able to play movies, surf the net, and check your e-mail by just waving your hand from a couch.

    The downside is that it doesn't use your pcmcia slot, there isn't a ton of buttons on the wiimote, so you might not get all the controller functions on there (i.e. you might have to omit fast forward and rewind etc.), and not all bluetooth adapter's support it.

    Google "GlovePIE" if your interested. Just my $.02.
