Anyone uses a palmrest protector with their lappy? I found many for Mac products, but not many for PC. If yes, any recommendations or alternatives?

    Thanks.

    :)

i don't think there's a big enough market for pc notebooks as models continually change (physically). whereas macbook uses the same exterior design and dimensions as the first macbook. but most pc notebooks do a better job of protecting itself from wear and discoloration than macbook maybe with the exception of macbook pro

I guess you're right about pc notebooks as models continually change physically, although there are many pc notebooks on the market that doesn't change often like the ThinkPads, but then the color is black, so not as big of a problem of lighter colored ones. I think the main reason is because there are much more choices than Apple rather than its physical lifespan.

I don't know though, but even black or darker gray, there may be no discoloring problem, but you can still see the surface changed to shinny after a while due to wear and oil from your hands. And I don't think it's hard to make an universal one that people can cut to their own size/shape, it doesn't have to be pre-made custom fit like the Apple ones.

I've never used one. I really can't see why anyone would unless their lappy had some kind of paint job that they didn't want to wear off. Most laptops aren't painted, they're just black plastic so what good would it do?

Actually, there are more painted than unpainted ones I believe.

I guess, but it seems like a optional extra that you don't really need rather than a "I have to have this" thing.

I did until today. I had an invisible shield one on my macbook, but I had to take it to the Apple store today to get the wrist rest area replaced so I no longer have it. It was very, very strong. I could hit it considerably hard with a flat head screwdriver and it left almost no marks. Yea I know I shouldn't have done that but I wanted to see how tough it was. And no, the break in the wrist rest didn't have anything to do with my product testing.
