Many of you might have seen, voted and/or posted in Part 1...so here is part 2!![]()
The poll is on whether you buy your bag with the sole purpose of carrying your notebook, or do you keep other uses in mind when considering different bags. For example, I actually spent most of my time traveling with my bag to school without a notebook in...or use it for general outings...
The main discussion this time will be about what you carry in you bag along with you notebook, do you put too much in? Or Do you feel you are running out of space with all you wireless mouse, external hdd, and flash drives?

I take a set of paperwork, and most of time some food.(in a separate pocket)
-
don't know really. i bought mine cuz it was 30 bucks and it seems pretty high quality. i don't carry mine too much, and when i do i'll prolly be carrying minimal software, music cds, maybe a couple blank dvds/cds and definitely my logitech wireless mouse.
-
I keep my binders/textbooks/lunch in my backpack along with my laptop.
-
That's a tough question. If I were to buy a new notebook bag, I might go for a backpack with a laptop sleeve and a compartment for accessories, but also one more for books/water bottle/etc. ATM, I have way to much schoolwork to carry around to fit in one bag...

Mine is crammed full of accessories, the c90 is a desktop on the go so I need all my stuff to go with it, cooling pad, wacom tablet, G7 wireless mouse, external microphone.
Thinking about it, its not a whole lot of stuff but it managed to take up the whole backpack to itself. -
I bought mine with carrying other stuff in mind as it is better to carry one bag instead of two when you need more than your laptop and its accessories.
-
Usually mine is a few of my lappy accessories, some magazines, books, cell phone, wallet, MP3 player, CD's, and other misc. things
It all depends on where I am going, though...as to what I exactly put in my messenger bag (it can hold lots of things) -

I just put my laptop in there, and will usually throw in my phone and other crap I feel like carrying but never need

ooo! good to see some replies over night!
keep it up!

I made a mistake with my first notebook bag since it was bulky and couldnt carry anything else in it.
My new one has few extra compartments so that I can carry around a magazine, cellphone, ipod and some snack alot with my accessories for my notebook -
Just my notebook and power supply. Also a pair of headphones and a cleaning cloth.
-
Well, I haven't actually bought any of my present bags. Or rather, those I did buy, i bought before geting a laptop. I am looking for a bag now though, that looks god, fits my laptop and books and whatever, and is preferably a messenger one. It'll be for more than juse my laptop(s).

Most anterior pocket contains the charger extension cord, an ethernet cord, and occasionally my USB backup HDD.
Next comes the main laptop pocket.
The most posterior pocket contains the charger.
Simple! -
This needs a little bump!

While the primary function is carrying the notebook, adequate storage for numerous other bits and pieces is an important consideration. From room for a few A4 size documents (but nothing too thick), down via notebook and bottle of water past calculator (yes, one of those is still useful) and cereal bar, Skype handset and various USB charger cables, then a blank disk or two and a screwdriver to a flash drive or two some papercips and some paracetamol tablets. Hence a good set of small pockets (not located where lumpy items can put pressure on the computer) is an important selection criteria.
If I'm commuting between two locations then I try to have a power supply at each end. Otherwise PSU + cables also needs to be squeezed in.
So, in conclusion, I choose bags that can hold the notebook but are also good for carrying other items. As I think I have said previously, the weight empty is an important factor.

To keep my notebook and all of its accessories in a single place.
What I carry along with the notebook in its sleeve:
Lock, cooling pad, adapters, USB cable.
I slip it inside a backpack every time I have to carry it around. I avoid using laptop carrying bags as they scream NOTEBOOK!!! so it doesn't give away that I'm carrying one. -
