I got my L3800 for a very good price from CC, though, it is a mail in rebate. Watch for CC, they might have some good deals.

You can check out the Bose Companion 2 speakers. They offer superb sound for $99.

For something cheaper, consider the Logitech X-230.

dude, logitech makes some KILLER speakers. i bought the 4.1 system when it first came out, they are still awesome. altho, they were far from perfect back then. i'm sure they've surely made improvements now.

I have the Logitech Z2300 speakers. They were connected to my Audigy2 sound card on my desktop and it sounded fantastic! Now that they're connected to my E1705 the difference is like night and day. Remember they will sound as good as the weakest link which is the internal sound processor on your notebook. It doesn't sound great to say the least. I wish Creative would get an Express sound card on the market soon. I don't listen to music much anymore because of this.

FYI, Creative does have USB sound cards in the market. So do a few other companies like M-Audio and Turtle Beach.
