Hello, I bought a Pcmcia USB 2.0 card for my think pad the other day, *** to start things off I instaled it into an old notebook laying around not a single problem every thing works with out a hitch*** Its a Dynex card. ive tried a few ways installing it, card/drivers drivers/card/ ive tried updating drivers through the Device Manager. Im running an XP home machine. It WILL pick up the card is in as some kind of Device, won't pick it up as beeing USB 2.0 but it dosn't work at the standard 1.0 speed eather. Also if I plug my External HD or External Sound card in there, it will pick up showing an Unknown Hardware device. SO in a sense I have some kind of connection but nothing the way it should be. Ive never had a Virus found on this machine. I did follow the "how to optimize my notebook thread" and did change some XP settings, but left out changing any thing I was even remotley unsure about changing. [ or so I think ] I have never had a Pcmcia card in this computer in the past since I have owned it so its hard to say if it ever would have worked. IM out of ideas, They do offer tech support but I thought I Might try here first.

Here are Screen Shots with my SYS Config/Services settings that I would have touched in the "optimize my notebook thread"

Any help would be great, usually I don't really have any troubles with computer, and find a way to get things to work. But this is beyond me!

    thank you.

well im going to be taking it back, I called tech today and they said they have isues with it working on Windows Service Pack 2

I guess maby thats why they are 35 bucks. And every other PCMCIA card are priced around 80 bucks. They said they have no drivers at the time or I could roll back to service pack one which is just a waste of my time. Oh well =(

Hah, sorry for your waste of time...seems like a lot of manufacturers have minor to severe issues with SP2.
